This is now called Follow-On Milk from 6 months. It is to be used to complement the weaning diet. I started using it when my son turned 6 months as I had originally used SMA Gold from birth to top him up from breastfeeding.

It costs about £7.25 for th 900gram tin but this can vary greatly depending if you buy it from larger supermarkets or smaller convenience stores.

The tin states that it has an "improved protein balance", "Omega 3 & 6 LCPs" and "essential nutrients, fortified with iron". To be honest, as a mother, I just want to know that it is good for my baby and all the information from the pack, other reviews and recommendations, I am very pleased with SMA. I like to use the milk instead of cow's milk as I personally feel that the formula goes well with the new tastes he is getting from solids.

You prepare the milk like all other formulas. One level scoop for every 30ml or 1 fl. oz of water. I find that we can simply make it up when my so is thirsty. I DO NOT make it and leave it in the fridge as the tin only advises to keep feeds for up to 2 hours. When making up the milk, use the scoop provided and level off with the back of a knife. Very simple!

I find that one tin lasts roughly 10 days but obviously this will differ for every child as they may be drinking plain water or juice at other times.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend this brand as a follow on milk and have had the ultimate seal of approval from my baby ~ he's never refused his bottle or brought it back up.

Also, the tin makes a great storage container once finished with or can be recycled.
