Nurofen For Children Orange
by bringingsexyback WHAT IS IT? Nurofen For Children is ibuprofen and is used to treat pain and the symptoms of sickness such as fever and aching. I use it mostly when my 9 month old daughter has got teething pain because it is very effective and works a lot faster than Calpol. HOW DO YOU USE IT? Nurofen For Children can be ... used for babies of just 3 months old but I did not use it so early. There is a grid printed where you can check your babys age and it will tell you how much medicine to give them, this will be between 2.5ml and 10ml for children who are older. I use the syringe that comes with the medicine to give it to my daughter because that is the easiest way to get an accurate dose and it helps me to make sure she has swallowed it all. DOES IT WORK? I am very happy with Nurofen For Children and think it works very well for my daughter. She has had a lot of pain this week because she has got a tooth that is going to break through very soon so she is in pain and has got other teething symptoms also like a sore bottom and a fever, I have been giving her Calpol and this medicine and I can see that it is more effective than Calpol because of how quick it works and how it gets my daughter back to normal so soon. WHAT I THINK My daughter takes this very easy because she likes the orange taste and does not ever spit it out of her mouth. She had the strawberry one and liked that also so I think the medicine must taste very nice even though it is sugar free. It works very quickly and I am happy for that because I do not like to see my children sick. I do not think it is as effective as Calpol for reducing a fever but it is a better pain killer and my daughter is free of her teething pain for a lot longer, it is a shame when it wears off because I know giving her a dose of Calpol will not take it away properly again. My other children have used Nurofen For Children but not very often because they do not become sick very much, it works for them with pain also and I think that is good because they are so much bigger than the baby but do not have to take very much more medicine. You keep it in the medicine cabinet and not the fridge because it will grow crystals in the bottom of the bottle if you chill it. ANYTHING ELSE A bottle of Nurofen For Children costs about £3 and I think it is worth it because it is so effective. My children are never sick for very long so a bottle lasts me for a long time, some of the chemists will give it to you if you take a doctors prescription in for childrens ibuprofen but my chemist will now only give the none brand ibuprofen so I buy my own because it is a product I trust very much. 5 Dooyoo Stars. Nurofen For Children Orange
by emmad5689 We don't usually buy this medicine as I have found the supermarket versions are just as good however this is what happens when you sent the other half to the shops! Both my children get dreadful temperatures when they are ill so we were advised by the doctor to use both a Paracetamol product and an Ibuprofen product at staggered times to ... have the best effect and help control the temperatures. The Medicine is available in chemists, supermarkets and discount style stores so it is readily available. The medicine is available in orange or strawberry flavour and generally costs in the region of £3 for a 100ml bottle is about double the price of the supermarket own versions. The medicine comes packaged in a brown glass bottle with a picture of a target on the front of it and a baby along with an older girl pictured. The box that the medicine comes in is the same as the bottle and both displays the name of the product and then on the back you have dosage information as well as a list of ingredients. Also in the box you have a special syringe which is only to be used with the Nurofen bottles as underneath the childproof screw top lid you find the top of the bottle has a special stopper in it and the syringe fits in it perfectly. I like the Nurofen syringes as you don't have to dip them inside the medicine to dose them up and therefore don't end up with sticky medicine on the outside of it. The dosing of the medicine depends on the age and weight of the child and it states you should only give the medicine every 6-8 hours but must leave at least 4 hours in between doses, 3-6 months (weighing more than 5kg) can have 2.5mls 3 times a day 6-12 months olds can have 2.5mls 3-4 times a day 1-3 years old can have 5mls 3 times in a day 4-6 years old can have 7.5mls 3 times in a day 7-9 years old can have 10mls 3 times a day The medicine smells of oranges and both my girls like the taste of it, it has a very sweet smell to it and the medicine itself is very sticky so I would say if you do spill any anywhere then it's a good idea to clean it up straight away. The medicine seems to work pretty quickly and I have found that it does work best alongside Paracetamol which is what I was advised, I tend to give my children half doses and give them much more often and this helps to keep the temperature steady when they are poorly. I rate this 4 stars from 5 as the price lets the medicine down, the medicine itself is really great and helps make little ones feel better quickly but so does the supermarket version. Nurofen For Children Orange
by cornishchic Although Calpol seems to do the job with easing my daughter's pain, there are some times where she needs a little bit more and ibuprofen is ok to take with paracetamol based products so I always make sure I've got a bottle of Nurofen just in case she needs it. I normally buy the strawberry flavoured Nurofen but my local Tesco didn't have ... any in when I last bought it so I bought the orange flavour instead. Nurofen for children in the orange flavour is widely available to purchase from supermarkets, chemists and places such as Boots. A 100ml bottle usually costs around £3. The packaging is typical of the Nurofen brand being mainly silver in colour with the well-known target as its logo, it also has orange on the bottom half of the box signifying the orange flavour. Inside the box is a bottle, a syringe and an information booklet. The medicine is suitable for children between the ages of 3 months all the way up to 12 years. The dosage information is as follows: 3-6 months - 2.5ml up to 3 times in 24 hours 6-12 months - 2.5ml up to 4 times in 24 hours 1-3 years - 5ml up to 3 times in 24 hours 4-6 years - 7.5ml up to 3 times in 24 hours 7-9 years - 10ml up to 3 times in 24 hours 10-12 years - 15ml up to 3 times in 24 hours The bottle includes a child proof lid and after you've struggled to get this off (I think most of these bottle are adult proof as well as child proof!) you will find a plastic covering over the hole with a circle shape hole missing in the middle. This hole is where you insert the syringe until it makes a clicking sound so you know it's inserted correctly, once in place you simply tip the bottle upside down and pull the inner part of the syringe out until the medicine reaches the required amount. I must admit that this type of bottle did put me off a bit at first but now I've realised that it is so much cleaner this way, the medicine doesn't drip down the sides of the bottle and then stuck to the box, it stays well contained the bottle. Another thing I love about the syringe is when it comes to washing it up I have to have a little play and pull water up the shaft then squirt it back out, but that's just me being a big kid! My three year old daughter loves taking her medicine with the syringe, she has a full syringe full for her 5ml dose and I stop half way through pushing it into her mouth so she can swallow half before swallowing the rest. She doesn't kick up a fuss even though it's a different flavour for her, she normally has strawberry/blackcurrant medicines but still doesn't mind taking this one. I find after around 20 minutes of taking the required dose, my daughters does seem to calm down and her symptoms disappear. I normally use this alongside Calpol but have used this solely a couple of times when my daughter doesn't seem that poorly. It normally lasts around 3 hours before it wears off and the symptoms return. When I do use it along with Calpol I always make sure I write down what medicine my daughter is having and when as it can get confusing with the different dosages and the last thing I want to do is give her an overdose! I'd definitely recommend this Nurofen for children in the orange flavour. It's a nice change to the normal strawberry flavoured medicine and my daughter doesn't kick up a fuss if she has to take any. It is effective at relieving symptoms and these effects last a good time. Read the complete review |
