Advantages: Works quickly, Works well
Disadvantages: I have heard that some babies do not like it.
The cheeks are rosy, the nappies are ugh, fingers are going into the mouth, and all sorts of hard objects are going into the mouth and do not forget the dribbles. Nothing seems to soothe your baby. TEETH ARE COMING!!!!!!!!! Some children sail through the onset of teeth while others have a terrible time of it. What can you do when you are woken up in the night by an uncomfortable child? I have the solution. ANBESOL. My saviour. This little bottle of yellowish brown liquid does not appear much to look at but its power is wonderful. A small amount of this liquid applied to the gums of a teething baby and peace reigns. The wonder of this liquid is the speed it works it is almost instantaneous. The Anbesol liquid is absorbed immediately into the gums and soothes the pain. Where gels can be hard to apply this liquid goes the exact place you want it to, and stays there After the pain has gone there are still the horrible nappies and objects still find the way into the mouth but the pain is not there any more. Your baby can sleep and so can you! Anbesol liquid can be bought in all good chemists. It comes in a little green and white box with ANBESOL written boldly in blue. Inside the box is an instruction sheet with the dos and don'ts of using Anbesol. It can be used for many things other than just Teething babies; it is useful for pains in the mouth. I have never used it for myself though. The bottle contains 6.5ml which does not seem very much but there is plenty in a bottle for all your baby’s teething needs and may even be enough for 2 or 3. They do sell larger bottles with 15ml but I have never felt the need to buy such a large quantity. The active ingredients, which mean nothing to me, are: - Lidocaine Hydrochloride Ph Eur 0.90% w/w Chlorocresol Ph Eur 0.10% w/w Cetylpyridinium Chloride Ph Eur 0.02% w/w The inactive ingredients are: - Eth
yl Alcohol (96%) BP Menthol BP Glycerin Ph Eur Caramel Colouring (E110, E104, E123, E142) Purified Water. The active ingredients are anaesthetics, which stop the sensation of pain. The alcohol rapidly evaporates to concentrate the anaesthetic effect. The Anbesol is effective for about 5 years from its date of preparation, after which you are told not to use it any more. I have found Anbesol to be a god send when my children are teething but I still need to have painkillers for all the other pains associated with growing up.
