Having previously used an Avon suncream for my children and being happy with it when it came to getting sun cream for our holiday last September I turned to Avon again. We were only holidaying in Skegness however I am very strict on sun protection as I feel for the children they don't have the choice to look after their own skin so I must do it for them and hope that when they are old enough to make their own choices I will have taught them the importance of sun cream.
Obviously with this being an Avon product you can only buy it from Avon, you can order from their website but you will have to pay delivery or you can order from one of their representatives. The thing I find with Avon is that at some point everything will go on offer so if you can wait for an offer it is certainly worth waiting, this sun cream is meant to be £8 each however I paid £10 for 3 products from the range making it £3.33 each and thus over a 50% saving.
The sun cream comes in a plastic tube which has a bright purple flip top lid on it which is actually at the bottom which makes it easier to get the last dregs of the product out. On the tube you are told that this is factor 50 which is the strength I always use on my children and that it is waterproof which is another thing I look for since weather permitting we like to take our children to the beach.
Inside the tube the cream is white in colour and pretty thick in consistency although it still rubs in really well, I like the consistency of the product as it means it doesn't end up all over whilst you try and apply it. The lotion comes out of the tube easily with a little squeeze and then it is easy to rub into the skin and soaks in nicely without leaving it feeling greasy. The lotion has a slight fruity smell to it which I like and you can smell it on the skin for hours afterwards so it's good that it smells nice.
I would rate this cream 5 stars out of 5 as this is the only products we used on our holidays and we did have some lovely weather but neither of my daughters even turned slightly pink let alone burned so I can happily say this is a fantastic product that does give maximum protection from the sun and I will be buying it again this year, when it goes on offer of course.
Avon kid's sun cream has changed a fair bit since this one indicated on the dooyoo picture as it has changed dramatically in design as well as having a few little extra elements. I decided to order the sun cream as Avon had a recent offer on which was any 3 products from the sun range for £9.00. I thought this was good considering the kids cream alone is usually £10.00.
The sun cream comes in a 75ml tube and this to be honest is the first thing I noticed about the cream. I had the impression that with an original price of a tenner that this cream would have been a lot bigger rather than looking like a miniature item. I have bought other creams in the past that have been double this size yet the same price range. The brochure does state the size but to be honest I never checked at the time.
The tube is bright yellow and purple in colour and has funky different coloured writing as well as pictures of fish. The cream is advertised as multivitamin and it is factor 50 which to be honest is all ill use of my daughter.
I used the cream for the first time on Sunday when we visited light water valley. I am so glad that I took the cream with me cause it was an absolute scorcher and silly me got burnt after being daft and saying a didn't need any cream. I applied this to my daughter before going in the sun and I loved the bubble gum scent that it had. I must admit that at times I did find it rather difficult to rub in when using a decent amount and it seemed to take me ages to rub the cream fully into the skin. I do think this cream is a tad sticky compared to the nivea brands but it isn't too bad.
My daughter wasn't going in any water that day but I did apply some more cream in the afternoon as the sun got hotter but when I was applying I could still feel the cream from the morning. The cream did work really well as my daughter had no red marks at all and was completely covered and protected. I mentioned before that when applying the second coat I could still feel the cream however the cream didn't transfer on clothes or leave any stickiness in them.
Some plus sides to this cream:
Factor 50 SPF high protection
Delicious bubble gum scent
Overall I have to say I wish this cream wasn't as sticky as it is but I am very happy with it and it definitely works. I probably wouldn't pay £10.00 for it as there are others which work just as well for the same price yet double the size. I will however buy this when it is on offer as my daughter didn't mind wearing it at all and we both enjoyed the yummy scent.
I was given this for my twin boys by my Nan, I hadn't used it before but I never had any sun lotion and we had a boiling hot week of sunshine the other week and I needed to use something whilst taking my boys out to prevent them from burning and catching too much sun as we all know it's not healthy for anybody, especially not a toddler or child.
This particular lotion is Avon Bronze Sun Protection for Kids, High UVA SPF 50 Sun Cream with Aloe and Vitamin E. Vitamin E in lotions such as sun cream helps prevent and treat sunburns and also helps pretect skin cells from ultra violet light. Having a high sun protection factor of 50 I also knew it would provide with my boys with really good sun protection so long as used correctly.
This sun cream comes in quite a small kid sized 75 ml tube, with a purple flip top lid at the bottom so it is easy to squeeze out when needed. The lid is easy to shut and flip open even after using the cream and your hands become a little greasy. The top of the tube has a yellow sunshine swirl where it tells us the brand which is of course Avon and who it's for which in this case is Kids in multicoloured bubble writing. Unerneath there is a purple band where it tells us the SPF and we are then told it is sun cream. All very informative yet fun looking at the same time.
It tells us on the back that the sun cream is Hypoallergenic and Waterproof . To use it all you need to do is apply liberally 15-20 minutes before sun exposure. Re-apply frequently especially after swimming, towelling or sweating.
It is a thick, white liquid but I find it rubs in and absorbs extremely well but only after a few minutes. With it being quite a thick liquid it tends to leave a thin, white film over your childs skin until it has soaked in - this helps though as this way you can see where on your childs body you have covered therefore you know where will be protected and where you may need to add some more on the bits of their bodies you've missed. Once it has absorbed it leaves my boys skin soft to the touch, their skin doesn't feel greasy or wet at all which is a bonus. It has a stunning childlike scent of bubblegum - not a sickly sweet bubblegum though but sweet enough to persuade any kid to have it rubbed into them as we all know what kids can be like - they can be stubborn and awkward and I'm sure not all kids enjoy having suncream rubbed into them as of course they don't understand the dangers and health risks that the sun provides.
I have been out for quite a while with my boys in the sun which has been glaring down at us viciously yet while using this cream they havn't burnt once, they havn't seemed uncomfortable and I've re-applied when I've wanted to rather than leaving it for certain periods of time. The sun was mostly on their faces so I made sure I applied a little extra on their faces especially noses, cheeks and foreheads which I found worked wonders and left their skin a glowing pink rather than a burning burnt red.
They have even been out in the pool in the garden with tops off so I have rubbed in the cream before they have gone in the pool in the fierce heat of the sun, and after taking note of the instructions on the back of the tube I had re-applied it after I dried them off and they had got wet. I'd say this was more common sense though - even though it says it's waterproof there is no guarantee really that none of it will wash off if you go in the water or if you sweet. As for towel drying that's fairly obvious you are going to wipe it off.
I would say though that after using it even though my boys skin was not greasy my hands felt quite thick and gooey and they do need a bit of a soapy scrub afterwards, especially with it being a waterproof lotion. This doesn't put me off using it though as it leaves my hands smelling lovely and feeling soft afterwards too.
I am so far very impressed with this cream and once I have run out I will definitely be buying more. Even though we are apparently due quite a hot summer and I have two boys to protect I don't think I will need to purchase another one this summer as I find a little does actually go quite a long way and rubs perfectly and evenly into their skin. I'm not entirely sure on the price but I'm sure it's less than £10, which as far as my boys are concerned it's definitely worth the money and I would reccomend it to anybody with children.
I have used Avons suncare products for several years now and to be honest each one I have used has been excellent quality for the price and has always offered me the protection I need.
My daughter is only 3 so she obviously needs very high factor when out in the sun. Even though she appears to tan easily and to date has never burnt I think this is due to my religious application of sun tan lotion.
I bought this cream for the first time a couple of years ago. Its a smaller tube than other products in the range but with an SPF of 50 I thought it would be perfect for my little girl and would be able to stay in my handbag so I had it available at all times.
Like so many of the SPF50 creams it is thick and when you apply it it doesn't instantly soak in. It leaves a fine layer of white on your child which although may not look the nicest it does instantly show that you have got them covered. After a few minutes it soaks in and leaves the skin smooth and soft. Not tacky or greasy.
There is no smell to the cream really that I can remember but it can be a pain to wash off of your hands with it being waterproof.
Another huge benefit of this cream is Avon always have offers on when they are selling suntan lotion. You often get them half price or 3 for £10 so the cream ends up cosing you just a couple of pounds.
I used one of these tubes all last summer and it never ran out. I also took a full one on a two week holiday in the med and used it on numerous occassions throughout each day on three children and we never ran out either.
This product serves its purpose perfectly as long as you use it as recommended and is definately worth the money. As similar products in other ranges can cost up to £10.
I am inundated with orders for this sunscreen range every year. We use it for our grandson and a lot of friends use it for their children too.
It goes on and it contains vitamins E and B5 which are great ways to help protect young skin on top of having a high sun protection factor and being both water and sweat resistant.
I find this product goes on easily and rubs in quickly, although do be careful not to rub it in completely as it gives more protection by leaving a little layer on the surface of the skin. I like the flip-cap at the bottom too as when they put it at the top, it means you have to tip the bottle up and shake it for ages to get any out! This is easy to use because gravity keeps the cream near the bottom of the tube and you can just squeeze it get a little out.
This is £10 full price which I don't think is unreasonable but you can also frequently get it cheaper on offer throughout the year. I would against buying in on sale now for use on young children next year though as the SPF will have lessened a bit between now and then. It's a great product to stock up on for on adult skin next year though!
Avon is with the times - I'm clearly not!! I had no idea it had moved on from 'door to door' to the world wide web! Anyhow for those who like me, didn't know, go to www. avonshop.co.uk and browse at your leisure. I must admit I used to use avon a lot as a friend sold it and was convenient to buy from her plus I like the products and think that they're good value for money. In 2000 I used avon suntan lotion for a holiday to the Bahamas. It was good protection from the fierce sun but more importantly it wasn't a greasy lotion, but creamy that sank into the skin. Currently, with the weather hotting up (apparantly it's going to be !!!) - we are all thinking about the holidays and should invest in new lotion. Avon is half price on all lotions, including kids lotion and bronzing lotions. Avon products are alredy good value so this is a bargain.
Avon Bronze Kids' Waterproof Sun Lotion SPF 50 I dont use anything else for my daughter.
I spoke to a doctor when she was 5 months old and we did a little skin test on her, because she is just like her mother when it comes to skin problems :( and she was fine.
So we used it all over and I found that it didn't irrate her one bit, even when she had her rashes, it didn't annoy her.
My daughter is as white as white can be and this lotion, didn't let her go red, she never burnt, she had a slight glow to her skin, if that makes sense.
I bought this product as a £10 offer with the SPF 30 for my son.
I believe it is about £8 to £10.
I always start my son off with the SPF 50 and then he goes down to the 30, but my daughter only uses this one.
Its a white cream, quite thick, but rubs in very nicely, the smell is almost like a baby smell.
I always carry this around in the summer as some children may need some and haven't got any that day.
The parents seem to trust this one, as when I ask they says thats a good one, or I use this.
I always send a bottle to the school, they have rules about what they are allowed to have in their school as back up for children and they always except this one.
Apply in the morning and they dont really need any more till lunch, when the sun starts getting hotter, always put more on the nose and shoulders, andif they have been swimming and you have to dry them down always apply more.
I have used this on my face and it worked for me too, so even though its a children's lotion it does work on adults.
It lasts a while as well, eventhough the life span is 12 to 15 months. It just means the product looses someone what after this time.
A great product.
For maximum sun protection. The ultimate way to take care of your children's skin.
