I wanted a thermometer that was both accurate and quick to use and this Brother max 3 in 1 ticked all boxes. The problem I found with Ear thermometers is the accuracy of them you could take 3 readings and each could be different, the sensor has to pointed at the ear drum and this is not always easy, so the fact that this Brother Thermometer also takes forehead temperature is a huge bonus.
It comes with a plastic case for transportation which is shaped like the thermometer. It also comes with a plastic stand with an adhesive pad on the base. The stand allows the thermometer to be attached to the wall, attached upside down on the bottom of a shelf for example as the themometer clips to each side of the base unit it can swivel and lock to different angles.
Its 3 in 1 so shows room temperature, forehead and ear temperature. Three buttons on the front the first button is the on/off and taking temperature button, the second is to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and the third for ear or forehead temperature.
When turned on it shows the room temperature, which by the press of the on/off button is backlit for a few seconds. The clever thing is the temperature reading automatically flips if the thermometer is turned upside down so it's the correct way up for reading.
A swivel clear plastic cap covers the sensor and as soon as you swing back the cap and pull out the sensor it activates the temperature reading mode, you then simply choose between ear or forehead and press the temperature button and after 1 second it beeps and displays the reading, which it stores for the next time its used. Once the sensor is closed back it switches back to a room thermometer.
It has a battery low warning and takes two AAA batteries. Its accuracy I found is very good and the forehead readings are more consistent and are not prone to variation as much as taking an ear temperature.
Whilst its unusual shape makes it a bit bulkier to take out and about compared with some ear thermometers the forehead reading facility makes it stand out above them. Gone are the days of the old glass mercury thermometer in the mouth for 2 Minutes! At around £30 its not cheap compared to the non digital thermometers or the budget thermometers but some of the cheaper ones take a lot longer to give a reading.
Its unlikely that you will ever buy more than one thermometer so make sure the one you buy is up for the job. This Brother max 3 in 1 has won the mother and baby gold award so it comes recommended
Digitally measures ear, forehead and room temperatures. Because you need a clear reading fast, temperature is taken in just one second and displayed on a clear, back-lit screen.
