Advantages: Great taste and not that expensive

Disadvantages: Don't want your child to get hooked on the stuff

I have to admit since we have had children over two years back now I wouldn't want to be without Calpol and it's been a blessing on more than once occasion. I know we shouldn't get dependent on it and I'm sure some people may think that you shouldn't give it to your children, but we only give them calpol when they need it. My first son had it for a while when he was teething and every now and again now when he is in pain for whatever reason. He certainly took to it and seems to know what it is now whenver we produce the bottle.

This particular product is suitable for babies over 2 months of age as long as they are are not premature. They should also weigh over 4kg in weight. As you are not allowed to give a child paracetomol this is the infant version of it and is very effective at treating many ailments and illnesses a baby may have.

You can distinguish it quite well by it's packing with the distinctive purple box you are drawn to and it can be found widely in any chemists and all supermarkets. We normally buy this in 100ml bottles that cost about £2.50 odd. So when you consider that nappies are expensive and the amount you go through every week, this isn't that bad in terms of value and a bottle like that will typicall last us around a month in most cases.

When you open the box, inside is bottle with the medicine in and this has a cap on it that is designed to prevent children getting into it as you have to push down and then twist, so it's safe so that children can't open it. The actuall medicine is pink in colour and has a thick texture to it. The flavour is strawberry and my son loves the taste. I got a bit of the taste one day off the spoon and I can see why they like it. In the box is also included a white plastic spoon so you know how much you have measured out.

I really think anyone who cares about the health of their child should have a bottle handy in case of emergencies like a high temperature or pain caused by teeth which is the main culprit. Highly recommended.

Summary: Overall, a product that you should always have handy
