Calpol is one of the things that is a must in any medicine cabinet when you have a baby. It is widely available from chemists, supermarkets and other stores, it is a trusted product that works well.

Calpol Sugar Free Infant Suspension contains 120 mg Paracetamol in each 5 ml, it is strawberry in flavour and is administered by mouth. The box usually comes with a small measuring syringe, that you can use to out the medicine into your babies mouth, or you can use a small spoon.

Calpol is used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and as an antipyretic. It can be used in many conditions including headache, toothache, earache, teething, sore throat, colds & influenza, aches and pains and post-immunisation fever.

Using Calpol is easy and its suitable for babies from 2 months. I gave my son Calpol when he had a fever and it always helped bring his temperature down. The dosages are printed on the box and also the bottle, so I would advise reading them before giving Calpol to your child, but generally you give a 2.5ml dose, which can then be repeated 4-6 hours later if the baby is 2-3 months. Once they are 3 months they can have 2.5ml 4 times in 24 hours, 6-24 months they can have 5ml 4 times in 24 hours, 2-4 years its 7.5ml in 24 hours and 4-6 years they can have 10ml 4 times in 24 hours.

It is advised that you only give your child Calpol for 3 consecutive days, after which you should speak to your doctor.

My son seems to like the strawberry flavour of the medicine, personally I found it very sweet, when my son was a small baby I would use the syringe provided, now he is 2 years old, I use a spoon and he is usually quite happy to take it, though if he is in distress or upset I still go back to using the syringe to make sure he gets a full does and that he is feeling better.

Overall I would recommend Calpol to others as it is easy to use and works very effectively.

Summary: Good baby medicine that is easy to use and works well
