I bought my son this elephant teether months ago, he was around 4 months old and was just starting to hold things. I got it on offer for £5.50, and it is currently selling in Asda, where I bought it, at £6.59. This toy is well overpriced for what it is, and I would pay no more than £3.50 if I was to buy it again. Tesco do lots of teething toys for this price, and I think this is more of a reasonable price for this toy. I think you are paying more just because it is by Chicco. This is a blue elephant teething toy. It is bigger than it looks online, it isn't a small elephant, I would say it is around 20cm big. This blanket does feel really nice and soft, but it doesn't feel brilliant quality. It is quite thin, although the good thing about it, is that is machine washable, which is essential with most of my son's toys as his dribbles all over them, or he is sick or gets food or drink all over them! It has lasted well through several washes in the washing machine, but doesn't look as new. This has a plastic handle for your baby to grip this elephant, my son likes to chew on this part sometimes, but doesn't really use it as a handle, although it is an easy to grip handle for little hands. He chews on the actual soft material sometimes if I give it to him but overall he isn't really interested in this toy. It would be much easier and probably cheaper to give him a proper blanket to chew on and the elephant doesn't interest him. He looks at it and picks it up, but I think he much prefers noisier and more interactive toys. It's a shame my son doesn't take much interest in this toy, as it was one of the most expensive teethers I bought, most are slightly cheaper than this one. It is a cute elephant, and it looks nice on my son's shelf with his teddies, which is where it lives now, as he takes so little interest in it! He looked at it more when he was a bit younger, he is only 9 months old now, and I think he knows there are more interesting toys to be playing with! He does quite often chew on the elephants nose if anything, this part is a bit tougher to chew than the rest of it. I don't think the material is really that good for teething babies, I think rubber or plastic teethers, or ones you can put in the fridge are much better. The elephant isn't that bright, but they are nice pastel colours, and this could be for either boy or a girl, but the colours don't seem bright or stimulating enough to keep my little man interested with it. I wouldn't buy this again or recommend it, although other babies may love it, mine didn't unfortunately, and there are lots of other better teethers out there than this one!
My local Home Bargains is amazing for baby items with the prices of the toys being the cheapest around. When I was in the latter stages of pregnancy I spotted the teething blankets which are suitable from birth. The blanket was £3.49 and consists of a soft, flat shaped elephant with a small teething ring to the corner, the green ear also rustles to keep baby entertained with the noise. As a first time parent I had no idea what to expect and what to buy but I had heard of Chicco items and thought this would be a wise investment as the packaging stated that it doubled up as a comforter for the baby. The elephant itself is very soft and lightweight and is easy enough for the tiniest of hands to get a grip. The toy doesn't take up much space either when it comes to preparing for going out and you need something to keep baby entertained. Our son loves this little blanket and as it is small and compact its easy for him to keep hold of and even snuggle up to to provide reassurance. To clean the toy I tend to put it on a handwash setting in the washing machine to make sure it is clean but for everyday use I just use an anti bacterial wipe to clean the plastic ring. Admittedly there is not much to this toy but my baby finds it a real comfort and insists that we take it everywhere or he screams blue murder! A handy little item to have and I am glad it wasn't the RRP price that I paid which is £6.99 and currently available from Amazon.
My son had this when he was younger and it was one of his favourite toys. It is a elephant blanket which is slightly padded. It has 4 sticky out legs, 2 large floppy ears and a small trunk. The dimensions are 23 x 20 x 5 so it is a nice size for baby to hold and carry round with them. It is very lightweight. There is a orange teething ring at the top of the elephant which is made out of a soft plastic. This is ideal for the baby to chew on when they are teething. The ring aslo has small bumps on it which will massage the babies gums as they bite down. The elephant is a blue colour with a green circle on its tummy with the word Chicco embroidered on it. There is also a small love heart on it. Both the ears are different colours to hold the babies interest. The blanket is machine washable at 40 and ours has held up very well. The fabric is well made and of a good quality. The seams are still intact and the blanket shows no signs of wear and tear depsite it being dragged round everywhere! This blanket is suitable from birth and my son got his when he was 2 months old. To be honest he didn't really use the teething ring on it as I think he found this more of a handle than for his teeth, but he loved the blanket. He dragged it round everywhere as a comforter. I have found this to be a lovely little comforter, it is not very expensive the cheapest I have seen it online is £4.99, and it is was invaluable for settling my son when he was younger.
