Advantages: Small size, soft bristles
Disadvantages: None
My girls were about 6 months when I first started brushing their teeth. Shopping around for toothbrushes I found that there were a few different ones that were suitable for babies one of which was this Colgate one.
Smile!
This toothbrush is part of Colgate's Smiles range and this particular brush is suitable for ages 0-2. The toothbrush is available in a range of colours, we've had pink, green and blue. I like having different colours for the girls so that I can easily tell which toothbrush is whose without having to mark one of them in some way. The girls don't seem to mind their toothbrush changing colour when they get a new one and I haven't had them both wanting the pink one yet. The handle has pictures of jungle animals on it making it fun to look at for little ones.
The toothbrush itself is well designed for little hands and my girls can easily grip the handle and control it enough to have a go at brushing their teeth. I also find it easy to hold when I am brushing their teeth for them. The head is small enough for little mouths and can easily reach their back teeth. It has soft bristles which have a coloured section in the middle to act as a toothpaste guide. This guide is useful as it is easy to use more than they need.
Despite the bristles being soft my girls don't like having their teeth brushed when they have sore gums from new teeth coming through, this has been the same with all brushes but doesn't normally last more than a few days.
These toothbrushes are really good quality and last for a few months before needing changing. One of my girls wears hers more than the other as she likes to chew on it which makes the bristles go out of shape.
Price and availability
These toothbrushes are widely available from supermarkets and chemists, they can also frequently be found in pound shops. These toothbrushes are currently (Feb 2013) £1 in Tesco which I think is good value for money.
Would I recommend?
Yes, I have used these toothbrushes for nearly 2 years now and have been really happy with them.
Summary: A great Colgate toothbrush for your 0-2 year olds. Smile!
