Fun teether (Fisher Price Activity Keys)

Disadvantages: Not great as a teether

My son inherited some Fisher Price teething keys from a friend. They are different from the ones in the picture but do the same thing and are similar in that they are not just shaped plastic but have different colours to each key and different textures.

At first I wasn't sure about second hand teethers but to be honest everything goes straight in his mouth anyway, regardless of whether they are intended specifically for that purpose or not. They are plastic so can be easily sterilised but they do contain a few little nooks and crannies that I find quite difficult to clean. They again a few germs are good for kids and so I just give it a quick clean as best I can and then stick them in a cold water steriliser.

The ones I have contain different beans that move around and pieces of plastic that can move up and down so there is something for babies to explore and be interested in. My son was fascinated with his from a very early age and still enjoys them now at 7 months.

I think these are good as a toy for babies and the ring will attach easily from many overhead baby toys so that they can hang down in front of them. As a teether though I am not so sure. My son prefers things that are more chewy when he is teething.
