My mother in law bought this for my son when he was just starting to teeth and he loved it immediately. It is a big red apple. It is quite flat but has a slight curve to it. It is about the size of the palm of my hand. The handle on one side has nobbley bits that make it easy to grip. My son always holds it by the handle because it is a very flat smooth plastic and so would be difficult for little hands to hold if it was not for the handle.

The leaves at the top of the apple have little raised dots all over them. My son tends to use this part to chew on more than the apple. I guess the different texture is interesting for him and soothing as well. There is a slight rattle in the leaves that he likes to listen to.

The hoop at the top makes a good extra handle and can be used to hang the apple toy from a play gym.

We put ours away once my son had gotten over his teething episode and I got it out the other days and his little face lit up and he started clapping his hands. He's now 8 months old.

It's definitely worth buying. It was only about three pound from amazon I think.
