Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors
Advantages: Rounded ends for safety
Disadvantages: None for me
When we first brought Jayden home from hospital we noticed that in his sleep he would scratch himself quite a bit and his nails seemed to grow really quickly, we had a pair of scratch mittens for him so we decided to try these, however he would barely have them on for a minute before he had managed to remove them so these were a waste of time. To solve the problem I decided to buy a small pair of baby nail scissors. It was actually my parents that found and purchased the Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors for me, they were ideal for what we needed and we have had so much use out of them.
The Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors come attached to a small rectangle white card, this from what I can remember the back of the packet contains information about the product. The scissors were attached to the card with plastic moulded around them and stuck to the card. The packaging was quite plain and simple, however it told you what you needed to know.
The Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors are basically a mini pair of scissors, the handle of the scissors are made from a plain white plastic, these have reasonable sized finger holes and rounded edges to provide extra comfort and allow you to grip the scissors easily when cutting your baby's nails.
The blades which come out of the white handles are just made from a metal, they have small blades on the inner sides which are sharp enough to easily cut through your baby's nails and small enough to cope with a baby's tiny fingers, the ends of the scissor blades are also rounded for extra safety this helps to prevent your baby's skin getting nipped or poked by the blades, the two blades are held together by a small bolt in the centre of the scissors.
The Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors as I have mentioned are small in order for your baby's nails to be cut safely, however they are not too small for an adult to hold, personally I do not find them fiddly and can hold them comfortably as I cut Jayden's nails. The blades are sharp and allow you to cut nails in one go smoothly and neatly preventing any rough edges which your baby could scratch themselves with. Using the scissors is simple I find it best to start at one edge of each nail and cut round it in one motion, I do find that I sometimes I need to go back and trim the corners however most of the time I can cut the nail in one go, I personally also find it best to cut Jayden's nails while he is asleep, if he is awake he tends to fidget about and pull his hands away, so to prevent him from getting hurt I just wait until he is asleep, whilst the blades have rounded ends for your baby's safety the blades are sharp and could hurt your baby if you caught their skin between the blades.
As I have mentioned the Baby Nail Scissors came from Mothercare, as I didn't purchase them I'm not sure how much my parents paid for them, however they are currently being sold for £1.99 reduced from £2.99. Personally I feel these are good value for money and we have experienced no problems with them falling apart.
I would highly recommend the Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors, they are perfect for tiny nails, they are safe to use without injuring your baby. These nail scissors have sharp blades and I find that I can cut Jayden's nails smoothly in more or less one action. I find that I have to cut Jayden's nails on a regular basis as they grow extremely quickly but as his nails are soft they can break causing him to scratch himself so the Mothercare Baby Nail Scissors help me to keep on top of this, they seem to be hardwearing and the blades remain sharp even after using them on a regular basis, the nail scissors were also cheap to buy so should I ever need another pair or need to replace these I will not have to pay out a huge amount of money. I am extremely pleased with my Baby Nail Scissors and would recommend these to anyone.
