Advantages: 100% natural, calms a teething baby

Disadvantages: None

As anyone with a young baby will know teething can be a huge pain in the mouth (for them) and a huge pain in the neck for you!

When my lovely son Brad was about 14 weeks old he suddenly started getting a red face, dribbling a lot, putting anything into his mouth and sometimes getting a temperature. Teething everyone said! As it made him VERY grumpy some days I needed to do something especially as at 14 weeks he could not use his hands properly and teething rings are too big for his mouth.

So I bought some Nelsons teetha from Boots where is it on sale for around £4 per packet containing 24 sachet of powder.

He is now 5 and a half months old and not a single tooth in sight but he is still teething from time to time so when it does out comes the teetha!

What is in it?

Each sachet contains Chamomilla or Chamomile plus a bit of lactose, xylitol and starch. The Chamomile is homeopathic strength and I know that the NHS does not believe in homeopathic remedies but no one has told my son that they don't work!

The good thing about this powder is that there is no sugar, no nasty chemicals, no antiseptics, pain killers of anything else it is 100% natural.

How do I use it?
Well when your baby is young I would recommend opening the sachet and licking your finger before dipping it in the powder. Then rub it all over your babies gums. Now Brad (my baby ) is a bit older I just open the sachet and pour it into his mouth. Whichever method you use some of the powder will come back out mixed with dribble. This makes your baby look like they are rabid and is actually quite funny!

you can use one sachet every 2 hours but I have never (YET) had to use more than one or two a day.

What does it do?

Well I am a big fan of chamomile tea to relax me and help me sleep and Nelsons powder just seems to take the edge off and relax an uncomfortable baby. I only give this to Brad when he doesnt have a temperature as it will not lower fevers at all. But if your child is having a painful tooth day and they are starting to get grumbly or in a state where they will scream until they get a temperature I find that a sachet of teetha just stops it in its tracks.

The box says that this will sooth and calm baby and for me it really works.

Where do I get it?
Boots, Amazon, superdrug or an independant pharmacy.

how much can I give?
No more than 6 doses a day but I can't imagine it would kill baby if you did overdose. I have never had to give more than 2 doses.

Would I recommend it?
With teething anything is worth a try and I would definitely recommend trying this. It is 100% natural and just seems to work for me (and a lot of my friends). If it doesnt work for you then sorry but it is only £4 a box which is small price to pay for a couple of hours of peace and quiet!

Summary: Gives me peace and quiet!
