Advantages: Spray on, coloured green so you can see where you've sprayed, waterproof

Disadvantages: Spray is not always what you want

I bought this when it was on special offer in Tescos. It is normally about £12 a bottle which is pretty dear in my view, but they had it half price, so I bought some.

It's green, so you can see where you've sprayed it. So that's good as it helps you not to miss bits when liberally dosing all your children with it in the sun. Once you've rubbed it in, it's not green any more, I hasten to add. My children are not all wandering around the beach looking like they've just come off the set of Mars attacks!

It sprays. I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I think it helps you get a light even coating, without applying more than you need. The actual sun cream is quite thick and if you jut spray it you don't need to rub it in too much. But a thinner cream out of a normal bottle spreads easily and is fine, so I can't in practice see a major advantage to the spray idea.

The disadvantage is the children's faces - you cant spray it on their faces as I don't want to spray it in their eyes and when they are babies you can't just tell them to close their eyes and then it's fine. So you spray a bit on their cheeks and try and do the forehead etc with it. Now I'm reflecting on it I honestly think a normal bottle would be easier to do the face with. It is pretty quick on a wriggly toddler on arms and legs though - you can spray them while they're crawling!

The cream itself seems to work - it's a factor 30 and certainly none of mine burned or anything while wearing it, even in Spain in the summer. The fact that it's waterproof is useful as they are in and out of the water every 5 minutes - you'd be forever spraying them if it weren't!

The bottle is a nice shade of blue and I do like the little wiggles on the side - your fingers fit nicely in there. Sorry I know that's a really stupid girly comment, but the attractive packaging is probably a factor in my buying it, if I'm honest. I lost the top early on as it doesn't click very securely, but the button is quite hard to spray (it's pump action not aerosol, so it doesn't cause a problem with in in a beach bag without the top.

In summary, I wouldn't pay the £12-15 it costs full price, and I've learned to take another bottle of liquid sun cream with me too to do the bits this isn't so good for, but I'm glad I've bought it and when I see it half price or two-for-one again, I'll buy some more.

Hope that's helpful.

Summary: A useful bottle to have in your beach bag

I always spray the cream into my hands and then massage it into my daughter's face which seems to do the trick. it is an expensive product but worth it
