Nurofen For Children Orange
Advantages: A great pain relief for children
My 6 year old son has been prone to ear infections since the age of two years old. He really suffers when an infection strikes and we have had nights where he has literally been screaming in pain all night. I rang my local Primary Care unit but they refused to see him until he'd had the pain 24 hours! They recommended that I keep him warm, comfortable and give him regular doses of Calpol alongside Nurofen for Children if possible.
I regularly gave him Calpol when an ear infection occured, but it didn't seem to touch the sides with him with this kind of pain. However, I had never tried Nurofen before so sent the other half out to get some.
Nurofen Medicine for children is supposed to be the strongest medicine on the market that is suitable for children of a young age. It is available in either liquid form or in sachets, though the liquid form medicine was recommended to me.
It is available in two flavours which are orange and strawberry. We now have both stocked in our medicine cabinet! Within the medicine box you get a plastic measuring syringe in which to administer the medicine.
To use you simply insert the end of the syringe into the bottle, tip the bottle upside down and pull the syringe back. The syringe then fills with the required amount of medicine. You then simply empty the syringe into your childs mouth.
I really like this way of administering the medicine as it creates no spillage or stickiness whatsoever as with other medicines. I have personally never tried it as it is meant for children, but as medicines go it is a winner on the taste front as far as my son was concerned. He says it tastes better than the strawberry calpol which is normally a winner with children.
This stuff isn't cheap. You can pay up to £4.50 for a 150ml bottle, but it is well worth its price. This medicine really did the trick as far as the pain was concerned. Of course it didn't completely rid my son of his excrutiating pain as only antibiotics were likely to do this but it made him far more comfortable, the pain was far easier to manage than it had been previously and his temperature stabilised too. I am now a real fan of this product and it is my first port of call when my son is ill. Gone is the Calpol and I would recommend Nurofen for any child with illness or pain.
This medicine can be used on children from the age of 3 months old and can generally be administered three times a day. The dosage increases when your child grows older, but the general dosage is between 2.5ml a time to up to 15ml by the time your child is between the ages of 10-12.
Nurofen for children is sugar free, colour free and is said to relieve most general aches and pains. There are the usual guidelines on the side of the box, which I recommend you read before giving to your child as there are certain circumstances in which you shouldn't use this unless on the advice of a doctor.
In summary I am now a huge fan of this medicine. My son doesn't mind taking it as in his opinion it tastes ok and it really does do the trick better than any other childrens medicine on the market. It is obviously a strong painkiller but it gave my son no side effects whatsoever, nor did it make him drowsy. It simply relieved his pain better than any other medicine ever has done and I will be using this from now on and I recommend you do so too.
Summary: A highly recommended childrens medicine
