Advantages: Effective pain relief for children
Disadvantages: None
Having two children in our household I find a quality pain relief an important part of our first aid box. Whilst I try not to give my children pain killers often I do find that at times it is unavoidable. Usually I choose Calpol but I saw this Nurofen Ibuprofen on offer and decided to give it a try.
Nurofen Children's Ibuprofen is packaged in a large durable grey and orange box. The brand logo is clearly displayed in the right hand corner along with the fact that this is a Ibuprofen for children between the ages three months and nine years. There is a picture of a baby and a young child infant and a diagram picture of the enclosed dosing syringe. This particular box contains a 100ml bottle of oral suspension which is strawberry flavour. Nurofen is sugar and colour free.
The back of the box gives plenty of information and warnings. A dosage list is given which lets you know how much to give your child depending upon their age ( and / or weight).
Instructions are included in the box and should be read thoroughly before giving the product to your child. The enclosed is the 5ml dosing syringe which is easily inserted into the top of the opened bottle and allows the correct dosage to be measured easily with no mess. I have actually found the syringe is a much more effective and convenient way of administering medicine compared to the usual dosing spoon provided with other medicines. The brown bottle itself is plastic with a white child proof screw on lid. The label on the front gives similar information to the outer box. The fact that this is a plastic bottle rather than glass is quite positive in my opinion, it means the product can be popped into a bag without the worry of breakage, it is also lighter.
Nurofen can be used for effective pain relief from:
*Reducing temperature (including fever caused by immunisation)
* Teething
* Toothache
* Sore throats
* Headaches
* Minor aches
* Sprains
* Cold / flu symptoms
The medicine itself is white in colour and has a sweet synthetic strawberry fragrance. I cant say that I have ever tasted it myself, but my children seem to actually like the taste. As with most medicines it is quite sticky so I would suggest having some wipes handy whilst using this product.
When my daughters both caught a rather bad cold I gave them this Nurofen Ibuprofen to help relieve their sore throats and lower their temperature's. I was very pleased with the results, it seemed to work well and helped my children feel a much better. My eldest daughter has also been suffering from tooth ache which seems to be particularly troublesome at night, a dose of Nurofen seems to do the trick and ensure a decent nights sleep for all.
I would certainly but Nurofen Ibuprofen for children again and therefore have no problem in recommending it.
Nurofen for children is also available in orange flavour.
