The machine beeps when it is ready for use and it also beeps when it has finished taking the reading. It has an automatic shut off after 1 minute and it is battery operated.
The thermometer comes with a pouch to keep it in and also has a function to recall the last reading taken.

I was given this a gift when my son was born "just to be on the safe side" I was told. I used it for the first time when he was about 4 months old and I never used it again! The machine is a small, hand held white digital thermometer. It has a blue tip which you swipe for a temperature reading. There are 2 blue buttons, one is power and one is mode- this determines whether you are swiping on the forehead or under the arm.
