Advantages: Easy to use

Disadvantages: Very unreliable and innaccurate reading.

I was given this a gift when my son was born "just to be on the safe side" I was told. I used it for the first time when he was about 4 months old and I never used it again!

The machine is a small, hand held white digital thermometer. It has a blue tip which you swipe for a temperature reading. There are 2 blue buttons, one is power and one is mode- this determines whether you are swiping on the forehead or under the arm. The results of the reading appear on a LCD screen and you can choose whether to have the results displayed in Celsius or Farenheit. there is also the image of a body with an arrow which points to the area of the body you have swiped.

The machine beeps when it is ready for use and it also beeps when it has finished taking the reading. It has an automatic shut off after 1 minute and it is battery operated.

The thermometer comes with a pouch to keep it in and also has a function to recall the last reading taken.

The thermometer claims to take an accurate reading from either under the arm or across the forehead in under 7 seconds. It took the temperature easily enough but it wasn't accurate! I used it on my son when he was slightly feverish and it took a reading of 96.8 which I though was a little low, I tried it again but this time under his armpit. Same result. I tried it on myself and my husband and we all had the same reading! We tried it again a few days later and the reading stayed stuck at 96.8 and never once changed. I have never used it since. It was very innacurate and unreliable, luckily my son wasn't seriously ill but it could have been a different story.

As it was a gift I had no receipt but I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Summary: Do not waste your money!
