Snuffle Babe Vapour Rub

I used to use this myself when I had a cough or cold as I found that the adult vapour rubs were too strong for me and made my eyes stream so I didn't have to think twice about what to get my 3mth Old Daughter when she developed broncholitis.

I paid around £2.49 in my local chemist for a small 24g jar and applied it straight away to my daughters chest to try to minimise the pain that she
was feeling as soon as I could.

The Snuffle Babes itself is a small jar with a screw top and label with the name on and various product information. The box is rectangle and has the words snuffle babe on it in lowercase letters set out as if they are building blocks and have a picture of a moon asleep in the blue and starry sky. In my opinion, this is a lovely picture and makes it look fun and child friendly. The other sides of the box also contain various information about the product and contact numbers etc.

The cloudy white Vapour Rub is made up of a mixture of Eucalyptus Oil, Thyme Oil, Menthol and Soft White Parrafin. It can be applied by rubbing a small amount of the gel straight onto your childs skin (which I am rather wary of as I will tell you further on), onto their clothing or onto a pillow or tissue to be used to inhale when in bed or the tissue for on the move.

I applied the balm straight onto my daughters chest and back just before I was putting her into her pyjamas and found that it made her very sleepy almost straight away. After I put her to bed, I found that, when I checked on her an hour or so later, she seemed to breathing a lot lighter and with less effort than she was before I applied it, so I was relieved and reassured...until the next morning when I undressed her and found an angry red rash covering the front and back of her upper torso!!! At first I was angry with the Snuffle Babes itself and then realised that it was my own fault and should have tried a test patch on Hallie to see if she reacted!! The rash stayed longer that the broncholitis as I carried on using the snuffle babes on a tissue attatched to her moses basket for the next 2 days when her chest cleared up and I felt that I was able to put it away for the next ''emergency''!! I would not let this reaction put me or anyone who reads this off from using the product as it really is an amazing product, but I would just urge everyone to test it before use.

Nevertheless, this product is a must have in your child cupboard and will serve its purpose well and last a long long time. I had a jar for my older daughter when she was a baby and it lasted me nearly 2 years and she was a child who picked up every cough and cold going!!
