Disadvantages: Did not work for me

Snuffle Babe Vapour Rub comes in a cute little cardboard box with a picture of a moon on, inside the box is a 24g glass tub with a white screw top lid that is easy to use and does not leak.

The product is aimed a babies from 3 months upwards and aims to help your baby breathe when they have a cold. To use the product you rub a little on your baby's chest and throat or on handkerchief in clothing or tied to the cot. The vapours will then circulate upwards and can be inhaled during the night, hopefully giving you all a good night's sleep. The product should not be used on the face or around your babies nostrils and it could give rise to hypersensitivity so caution is advised and if you notice any strange reaction you should discontinue use and possible seek medical advice. As with all medicines, if symptoms persist then you should seek medical advice.

The product contains the following ingredients.

Eucalyptus Oil 2.00%ww
Menthol 1.50%ww
Thyme Oil 0.50%ww
Other Ingredient
White Soft Paraffin

I used Snuffle Babe on my son when he was around 5 months old, applying a small amount to his chest and also his back, I have never tried applying it to a handkerchief. I think it did help him breathe a bit better than without it, but overall he was not a big fan, I think it was a little strong for him, I found that it was quite greasy and after trying to use it for a few days, I gave up and resorted to using aromatherapy oils in a burner instead, which I believe worked more effectively.

I purchased the Snuffle Babe for around £2.50 in my local Waitrose. I would not recommend this product to others as I do not think it was very effective at all.

Summary: Not as effective as I thought it would be
