      Not something to recommend

The First Years Soft Teething Beads are something we tried with our child when teething. We found they were cheap to buy at £1.99 from a local chemist store and we thought our child might find them both eye catching and interesting for our child at the time of purchase.

The idea of the First Years Soft Teething Beads is that a child can easily manipulate the beads on the teether and use it as a dual purpose teether/ toy to occupy them during times when sore gums are causing them distress. We thought it would be an interesting addition to the teether toys we tried, as it offered a different concept to many of the other teethers we have tried.

      **********************************************************
The size of the First Years Soft Teething Beads is roughly 7 1/2 cms by 2 1/2 cms, by 15. 1/4 cms. The soft type beads are arranged around a simple yet effective plastic cord with a locking bead which secures them all in place. You can choose from 2 colourways and each comes in a nice selection of bright eye catching shades that will attract a childs attention.

We have found that when in use the beads all stayed firmly around the cord in spite of little gums doing their best to bite and chew on them. They move and spin when the teether is in use which makes them a bit of a challenge.
They can be also washed and rinsed if needed.

      *********************************************************
One thing we were unsure of was how to monitor the use of the teether beads and so whilst they are effective and our child enjoyed using them, we never truly felt they were something we wanted to leave our child unattended with. The beads do look quite teeny here in the Dooyoo pic, but in real life they are quite sizable. Even so we still felt they ought to be used only with supervision.

To sum up the product I feel that it ought to get 2 stars. Reasons for this being that whilst the beads do seem to be firmly attached and of a decent size, the cord they are on can be bent into all sorts of shapes. This might end up blocking a childs mouth or becoming stuck when your child is biting down on them. This was a worry for us at times and so we decided not to continue with the teether in the end. These wouldn't be something I would recommend due to that possibility.

A great teether especially for the price.

I was pleased when I was given these teething beads because my youngest had recently started to chew a lot and he was having trouble holding the traditional water filled teethers.
The beads looked suitably small enough for him to hold easily they are perfectly sized for babies little hands and mouth; they also don't feel too hard or brittle so feel like they're gentle on gums too. Despite being suitable from 3mths the teether cannot be sterilized which may be an issue for some.
The instructions were clear and simple to both read and follow. The beads are of very good quality, I felt totally happy letting him play with them after I'd given them a tug to check they were secure.
It's very easy to keep the beads clean by just giving them a quick rinse in soapy water, although they can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher too.
They also have a slightly sweet vanilla smell which hid any baby breath smell which I particularly like.
He really seems to like using the teether and he plays with it almost every day. I think the teether is reasonably priced. We will definitely continue to use these until the rest of his teeth are through. I would definitely recommend the teething beads.
