I bought this on offer in Asda for just £1 to have just in case, and I am pretty glad I did. My LO has had a couple of coughs where he struggles through the night, but he will take a dose of Tixylix from a syringe in his sleep and it always seems to soothe him. As with all cough medicines, it gives relief rather than is a cure for the cough but if it helps the whole family get a better night of sleep than who cares?

It comes in a pink and white box and has a child-proof screw cap. You administer with a spoon (which comes in the box) or a syringe if you have one.

It is very mild (just liquid glycerol) which is important to me as I do not like the idea of filling him full of strong medicines unless absolutely necessary.

You can give it from 3 months onwards and I would say it is a medicine cabinet essential in winter.

However it says on the box it works for up to 5 year olds but I wonder how effective it would be for an older child.

Summary: Definately worth a try if baby is suffering with a cough
