Tommee Tippee Icy Bite Keys
Advantages: Bright, cheap, gives some relief
Disadvantages: Couldn't manage it at 3 months
I have two daughters, one is 5 in a few weeks and one is 19 months old, both of my girls have had a set of these keys and I think they are brilliant. The keys are made by Nuby which is a pretty big name in baby accessories, you can buy them all over such as Tesco, Asda and Boots and they cost about £5 when I bought them although these actually seem to have gone down a littl4e and can be bought for £4.09 from Boots currently.
The keys came packaged in a plastic fronted package with cardboard on the back the kind where you have to destroy the packaging to get them out so you are unable to see what the toy is about before purchase and it can be quite difficult to make a hole in the cardboard back to rip the package open from.
The keys are on a keyring like normal keys would be, the keyring is bright blue rubber with white spots on so this is ideal for your baby to chomp on whilst teething afterall this is a toy for teething babies. The keyring has a red and white oval with Nuby written in it showing who it is made by, there are three keys attached to the keyring each one is a piece of plastic with the ends of the keys being soft plastic filled with purice gel which can be chilled. There is a red and blue plastic top with a blue bottom, a red and yellow plastic top with a yellow bottom and pruple and green plastic top with a green bottom. I like that the colours are all bold and bright.
The keys are very durable and neither of my daughters managed to damage them in any way, the keys are nice and bright to attract your child and they are easy to hold for younger babies. The teether is suitable from 3 months old and has different little nobbly bits on the bottom of the key pieces so that when your child chews on them the bits ease their gums. The keys are filled with purice gel which when placed in the fridge is apparenbtly supposed to stay cool for longer than water filled teether which to be honest I have never compared them but the teether did stay cool for a long time qand my children would get bored of chewing them before they warmed up.
Both my daughters loved this teether and even when they weren't teething they would often play with it, I think this teether is great and did certainly have a cooling effect on my daughters gums and I do believe they did help to give both my daughters some relief from teething which is the idea of the toy so I was pleased with the way it worked. Luckily both my children now have the majority of their teeth and no longer need a teether so this has now made it's way to my younger cousin who is getting plenty of use from it too. At 3 months old neither of my daughters could manage to hold these and get them in their mouths but if they were sat in their bouncers and we placed them on their chests and put a key in their mouths they managed to use them fine and then as they got older they were able to use them by themselves.
I think this is a good teething aid with the added enjoyment of being a toy and the price is pretty decent too.
Summary: A good teething aid
