Advantages: Well designed, reliable

Disadvantages: Slightly overpriced

Sophie the Giraffe is an elegant French Giraffe, she is fairly easy to find if you look for her on Amazon or any decent website offering stuff for babies and costs £8.99 on average.

Sophie is a teething toy, basically she is a squeaky giraffe used by teething infants to chew on, everytime they do she amusingly squeaks.

Looks:

Sophie is about 18cm tall and fairly easy for your little baby to carry around one handed, she is made of rubber and has a doe eyed innocence that we perhaps don't see to often in real giraffes, unlike real giraffes she smells of rubber, she has fairly short legs in comparison to her neck and the whole look is cartoonish but realistic.

Use:

Sophie is great as she has a nice wide neck area for your little one to gnaw on, the legs are easy to chew on too, the head offers ears and horns which my little one likes to chew on and the whole toy is well designed to fit small mouths, the design is very safe with no jagged edges and Sophie offers a really simple, well designed concept, which has proven amazingly popular amongst parents.

Longevity:

We've had sophie for over a year and got about 6 months of good use out of her, she is a toy as well as a teether and our little one doesn't snuggle to her much but does like to carry her round and throw her at people or things, which we take as a sign of affection.

Overall:

This is a simple well designed toy, at £8.99 I think we paid the higher end of the scale for this as it is dual use but still primarily a teether, the toy looks good, is really smart and has a quaint frenchness which most Giraffe's just don't. I would and have recommended this to others, it is painted with non toxic paint and squeaks reliably everytime, I wasn't initially convinced by the price and this would still be my only quibble, but this toy is reliable and guaranteed to either be chewed or thrown at somebody everytime we get it out.

This is the most useful giraffe I have ever come across and there appear to be further options in the range, but this basic toy does everything you would expect from it and offers chewing relief to your pained little one when they really need it without risk, or the threat of the toy causing any damage to your child.

Summary: Not as tasty as Rhino with HP Sauce, but still fairly chewable for teething tots
