In The Night Garden Talking Iggle Piggle
by catrocks03
Tyler started watching the show In The Night Garden at his Nanas house and was soon requesting to watch it at home (we use i player on the xbox, I just find it more convenient than actual TV!) He soon became a big fan of it.
One day we went round a friends house for the afternoon. My friend has a daughter about 6 months older than ... Tyler. When they were playing Tyler found an iggle piggle toy and was very excited with it. My friend offered for us to have it as her daughter had no interest in this. Tyler was thrilled when we took it home and it was glued to him for a good few days.
When his Nana learnt of his new favourite toy she said she'd have a look on our local for sale facebook page (people are posting things every minute so you can find some bargains on there) looking for the other characters. She managed to pick up a Makka Pakka and Upsy Daisy. Tyler loves playing with them all although he probably favours Upsy Daisy the most!
The Iggle Piggle toy has a small red blanket attached to his hand with a bit of Velcro. The bit of Velcro however is quite small and the small bit of blanket has already got lost somewhere in his room!
When you squeeze the figures belly it produces a few different sounds- either noises it makes on the show or its little "theme tune" (that will only make sense if you watch the show I believe).
These toys are pretty expensive so we were lucky to this one for free and the others very cheap. Theyre currently selling for £18.99 on Amazon which I personally think is pricey in itself but I've seen it going for £25 and over elsewhere! I'm not going to lie if I'd seen this online there is no way I would of paid 20 quid for a fairly basic toy.
Generally if your child is a fan of the show they will be a fan of this. My son is turning 2 next month and loves it he constantly is saying "Iggle piggle noise" and "make a noise" before pressing his belly.
Unless your going second hand though buying the whole set will cost you a fair bit!
If you are thinking about buying a used toy I'd also mention to not be worried about battery life. The only one which seems to be going is our Makka Pakka and all that is affected is that its become a little quieter. We've had these toys a while now and the other 2 are still going strong! ELC Children's Shopping Trolley
by womble1985
This trolley was bought by us from a friend who's son had outgrown it. We bought it from them along with the Early Learning Centre Sizzlin' Kitchen which has the same bright blue and red colours of this trolley so they both matched.
It is a lovely sturdy trolley, it is very good quality and well made, the wheels are thick and ... tough and the whole structure feels very robust. It has a red frame with 4 blue wheels and the blue shopping trolley basket is separate and simply attaches (hangs) from a bar just below the handle. Having the basket detach so easily from the trolley is good for storage if you are limited on space as it is easier to fit in to somewhere for example if you want to store it upside down etc. But on the other hand I have found the ease of taking the basket off just means that my son seems to enjoy pushing the trolley round with no basket attached. Ideally I would like the basket to detach as it does but to maybe have some sort of a clip/clasp in place so you can do this but your toddler can't!
The basket is very handy for storage. I'm sure any of you who have had play food or a play kitchen will know that you end up with endless bits of fruit/veg/tins/cans/cups etc everywhere and being able to just scoop them all up and put them in the trolley is great and our play kitchen doesn't have enough room to store all these little bits and pieces.
My son plays with this trolley alot and I am very glad we got it with the kitchen as I am not sure I would have thought about getting a trolley separately. As we bought them together I don't know how much they are new, I had a quick look on their website and I would say they are between £12-£15 new on their own. Based on this I think this is quit alot for just a trolley. It doesn't do anything and does not come with any food. If I had wanted to buy a trolley I probably would have sought out a cheaper one somewhere. However, now I have it I know that this Early Learning Centre one is very good quality so you do get what you pay for.
Overall great fun if you have either a kitchen/supermarket type of toy you can use with it. Read the complete review |

HappyLand Cherry Lane Cottage
by RachelHRD
We discovered the Early Learning Centre Happyland range when my daughter was around 18 months old and the house has gradually been taken over by more toys from the range as she and her brother have got older!!
For those not familiar with the range, it includes buildings, furniture, characters, animals and vehicles, with bright ... colourful designs made from sturdy plastic which is fairly robust so can withstand the bumps and bashes it gets from younger children.
The Happyland Cherry Lane cottage cottage is described as the 'perfect first dolls house for your toddler'. It has a carry handle and opens out on a hinge, has two storeys and comes with 2 dolls, 3 pets and 2 beds, a dressing table, a table and 2 chairs. There is also a tree house in the garden with a removable top.
It is aimed at 18 months + which I think is about right. My son and daughter still love playing with it now, aged 5 and 3 and as its fairly portable with the carry handle its a useful toy for them to take around the house or if we go away. It's a great set for children who like imaginative play and is nice in that there are no batteries needed so it's silent too!!
It retails at £35 so is quite expensive but the Happyland range is quite often on sale with as much as 50% off at times - so is excellent value when on offer.
I would recommend this range to anyone looking for well made toys for imaginative play. Read the complete review |
