In The Night Garden Talking Iggle Piggle
by denise40
Iggle Piggle
**WHAT IS IT**
This is a plush toy which looks like Iggle Piggle, who is from the children's programme called 'In the Night Garden'. This show is very popular with my daughter who is 2 years old however she doesn't like it as much as she used to. I think she is starting to grow out of the show and ... other shows are more appealing to her now. At age 1 'In the Night Garden' was my daughters favourite show and she loved to watch Upsy daisy and Iggle Piggle along with the other characters. This meant she received this toy as a Christmas present from her aunt.
Iggle Piggle however is still a favourite toy of hers and she loves playing with Upsy Daisy (which she also has) and Iggle Piggle together. Quite often I find her making tea and feeding Iggle Piggle.
It is suitable for children aged 18 months old.
When you press Iggle Piggle's tummy he will make different sounds/say different phrases that he says on the show.
He also has a red blanket that you can attach to his hand so he is holding it or it can be removed. It is kept in place with velcro.
**WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE**
Iggle Piggle is blue in colour and each section of his body is various shades of blue. He has red on the soles of his feet. On his head he has 4 tiny bits of hair (that are 4 taggies) these are also soft to touch.
Iggle Piggle has plastic eyes that can get scored over time with wear and tear. He has a blue plastic nose and a blue embroidered mouth.
On his back he has a velcro pocket which has a sewn in voice box. This is sewn in very securely so you are not going to accidentally tear it out by accident. To change the batteries you will have to use a screwdriver to open the box. The toy takes 2AA batteries, however you are supplied with them when you purchase the toy.
**WHAT IT DOES**
Iggle Piggle is a very soft cuddly toy that makes noise when you press his belly. It is the type of toy a little one could cuddle into.
Iggle Piggle's hair is very short and extremely soft to touch. There is a small piece of velcro on his hand that his red blanket attaches to. This blanket is also very soft to touch and it is a nice size for a little one to hold and play with.
When you press his tummy you get a different noise each time. Well there are 4 different noises. One is a squeaking noise (like Iggle Piggle is kissing), another is a rattling noise, another is like Iggle Piggle laughing and the last is the Iggle Piggle song.
The Iggle Piggle song is 'Yes my name is Iggle Piggle, iggle, piggle, miggle, wiggle, giggle. Yes my name is Iggle Piggle, iggle, piggle, miggleee, ohh'. If you have ever seen 'In the Night Garden' you will understand this song. It is the song that Iggle Piggle sings.
**WHAT MY DAUGHTER THINKS OF IT**
My daughter loves this toy and she enjoys playing with it and pressing Iggle Piggle's belly to hear the different sounds. My daughter's Upsy Daisy doesn't actually make any noise and she sometimes touches her belly and gets frustrated that it doesn't make the noises that Iggle Piggle does.
She loves to give Iggle Piggle cuddles and she uses it like she would a doll. She makes him tea and feeds him food. She also takes him for walks in her pram and puts him to bed.
Even though she doesn't watch the show as much she used to she still find the Iggle Piggle toy amusing and enjoys playing with him. In fact if she sees it in the room she will shout out Iggle Piggle!
As my daughter doesn't take cuddly toys to bed with her this toy isn't taken to bed or used to help her to go to sleep. It may hinder children sleeping if they pressed the belly and it started to sing.
**MY OPINION**
This toy costs £15.99 from Tesco's which isn't cheap for such a small toy. It is roughly 30cm in size which is a nice size for my daughter to handle.
The toy is made very well and I am not worried about my daughter chocking on stray hairs (which I have found with other toys). I feel safe to give her this toy to play with without any harm coming to her.
It is very soft and feels nice to touch in fact my daughter can be found rubbing it against her face as she likes the feel of it.
The one thing I like about this toy is that the same song isn't played over and over again when you press the belly. In fact they are played randomly which I like as it doesn't mean you are hearing the same song over and over again as this does get irritating. The only thing I can say is that the music kind of sounds muffled but to me this isn't really a big issue and the noises are loud either.
My daughter loves this toy even though she has had it for a while. She plays with this toy like it is a doll and enjoys taking him along to do different things.
I would recommend this toy to anyone's child who likes 'In the Night Garden' and likes Iggle Piggle. It doesn't have much educational value however my daughter does love playing with it over and over again. Read the complete review |

Hasbro Playskool Busy Basics Busy Elephant
by emmad5689
My daughter was bought this for her first Chrostmas her being 3 months at the time it was pretty limiterd what was suitable. The elephant was given a s a gift but I have looked it up for the purposes of this review and you can buy the elephant on Amazon for £8.79 at present which is a decent price for the toy in my opinion.
...
Packaging
The elephant came in a bright red cardboard box with a plastic front with a hole in it, the hole I think was so you could put your finger in and spin the ball on the end of the elephants nose however the hole was pretty small and the edges a little too sharp for my liking so I certainly didn't rate the packaging. The elephant wasn't difficult to get out of his box simply being hels in by plastic covered wires which simply needed untwisting.
The Elephant
The elephant is for babies aged from 3 months so it is a very soft toy to make it suitable, the elephant is a lilac blue colour and has a big trunk with a ball on the end and a bottom lip hanging underneath the trunk which looks a little strasnge as it stands out a little far. The elephant has two large plastic eyes aqnd large floppy ears and he has alsorts of different activities for baby to play with. I think the elehphant could have been more brightly coloured to attract babies attention.
The Activities
There are a number of activities on the elephant you have little tufts of ribbon sticking out of his head for baby to tug, his bright lime green ears have a rustling material inside and there is a ball of pink and orange which can be spun on the end of the elehpnats trunk. One of the elephants hands has a squeak in it although it is pretty hard to press so our daughter didn';t really manage to do this on her own and gthen the other hand has a piece of cord style material on it for texture. On one foot the elephant has a plastic dial with little holes for baby to put fingers in it and tunr the wheel, it reminds me of the dial on a really old style telephone, the wheel makes clicking noises as it turns around too. On the opposite foot there is a mirror which our daughter was really intrigue by and she would happily smile at herself in it if we held it at the right eye level for her. Thwe final activity on the elephant is a hard plastic star shape which is attached by a piece of ribbon and can be placed in a pocket on the front of the elephant, the star shape is really good for baby to chew on when their gums are hurting them and the ribbon is only short so that they cannot hurt themselves in any way.
Our Thoughts
Our daughter really liked this toy and she loved to crinkle the ears and would happily sit and giggle so she must have liked the noise it made, she loved looking in the mirror and she still loves looking at herself in mirrors now perhaps she's going to be a little vain. She never showed any interest in ths spinning ball or the squeak even when we squeaked it for her and wasn't bother by spinning the wheel either. I would say this is a great beginner toy as it is suitable for really young children and they can manage to do things on it by themselves even if it is by accident, my daughter got a couple of months play from this but once we introduced toys that made music and flashed lights she was no longer interested in this toy so there are toys that provide longer play but I still think this is great. Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper
by nteer09
We bought this for my eldest daughter for Christmas, and it is still one of her favourite toys.
She's scared of the sound of hoovers, so at first- due to the noise of this toy (sounds a little like the suction of a hoover), she approached this toy with caution. When she realised how much fun it was, she played with it for an ... hour and a half none stop.
The colouring of this ball popping toy has altered slightly from this picture shown on Dooyoo- but for the better I'd day. It's colours are more neutral, with the shoot being red, green and yellow, and the bottom part being blue. It's colours instantly draw children to it, plus unlike the original design, it now has a blue smiley face on the top of the shoot, and the ball releasing button is now yellow with a smiley face.
The ball shoot now comes with five different coloured balls and plays five different musical sounds when the ball releasing button is pressed.
My daughter simply has to drop the ball through the shoot, and the balls pop out of the top. Each time the yellow smiley face is pressed, the toy plays a different tune.
My daughter has hours of fun pushing the balls back down the shoot- and we spend hours laughing at her pushing balls back down the wrong hole and wondering why they're not popping out again.
Besides the hours of fun and laughter my daughter gets from this toy, I've noticed a big improvement in her co-ordination skills. She's learning the different colours of the balls, and she even taught us that if you keep pressing the button, then the balls pop up higher and the songs play faster.
The toy is recommended for 9 months and upwards, which I think is about right due to the fact that the balls can fly out at some speed.
This normally retails for about £25.99 from larger shops like Argos-but we picked it up in the sale for £18.99!
In my opinion, the only draw back to this toy, is that if the ground is not completely flat, then the balls have trouble going town the shoot. You end up with a back-log of balls, which you then have to push down yourselves- and they fly everywhere in the process. Read the complete review |
