Asda 100 Ball Pool Balls
Advantages: Lightweight for little hands to use
Disadvantages: Can be damanged easily
My son was born in the summer so for his birthday he received a few outdoor type toys and the balls were one of them along with a ball pit that I will review separately.
You can purchase the balls exclusively at Asda in store and online for £4.65, though they are often in their two for £8 deal. The balls are recommended for children from the age of 2 years.
The balls come in packs of 100 and come in the following colours orange, red, blue, yellow, and green so a nice range of colours. They are made of plastic, that is a quite soft and has a tendency to become a little squashed, but I supposed this is to ensure they are not too hard on your child when being thrown or jumped into.
The balls are contained in a blue mesh bag that has a blue zip to keep them all in the bag, the bag is quite flimsy, but it does a good job and I have had no issues with the zip breaking or the bag splitting.
They also come in a pink range, and the balls are light pink, dark pink and light blue and these come in a pink netted zip up back for the same price.
I use two bags of the balls to fill my ball pool and my son loved playing with them, they are light enough to throw around without damaging anything and they are also great fun to just sit in. As they come in five different colours they also help your child to start to identify colours and as they are around the size of a tennis ball they are small enough for little hands to pick them up easily. They can be used indoors or out and we have also used them in a paddling pool. As they are soft they do not really hold up to being used as a substitute for cricket or other bat games as they become damaged easily, but for what they are intended for they do a great job. My sons favourite game with them was to sit in the ball pool and throw all of the balls out so my husband and I could throw them all back to him. He is now 2 years old and has stopped playing with them, but for the few months he did play with them he had great fun. They have a limited life span, as once the novelty wears off, they do become a bit boring and also messy, I was forever finding balls under the curtains or under plants out in the garden.
Overall I would recommend these balls to others as they are brightly coloured, well priced and light for little hands to use, they loose 1 star as they are easily damaged if stood on and have a limited life span.
Summary: Good outdoor and indoor toy, but with a limited life span
