I spotted the Bawi horse in TK Maxx in September last year when I was on the lookout for some presents for our daughter's first birthday. Having a two year old already in the family, we were well served for baby toys already but I wanted her to have some things of her own to play with.
The Bawi horse was so cute, nice and bright colours, well finished off with appealing detail like the mane made of individual tufts which felt nice and soft and something to hang on to. Inside the horse was a hidden jingly bell which softly chimes when you shake the horse, a very nice touch! His eyes and mouth are all stitched on so nothing can come off in your baby's mouth, it feels like a very safe toy. Another clue that this horsey was special is the fact that he came in his own bag with a Velcro flap so he was nice and clean and could be stored away neatly when not in play. In terms of measurements, he is 22 cm long and 16 cm high at his highest point (the head). His shape is a sort of mid galloping style.
I didn't realise it at the time but Bawi horse is a major deal over in France. You can buy them in lots of different sizes, ride ons, baby pillows and gyms etc all featuring this lovely blue horse. Another bonus is that this horse is machine washable, very important when children are always putting things in their mouth.
I paid just £4.99 for this soft horse. For the quality the soft toy is well worth it. Obviously shopping at a place like TK Maxx you always get some sort of discount.
I'm pleased I bought this horse. He still looks as good as new and that's probably thanks to the storage bag. I have to say though that he's not been an absolute favourite with either child and rarely gets played with, they prefer other toys to this one for some reason but you never know when buying this sort of thing whether it's going to be a hit or not! I do think it makes a nice gift though and it will last our girls a few years yet as it's not too babyish. I think it's been a good buy and hope that one of the girls takes more of a liking to it some time soon (otherwise he'll have to be my own 'special' friend!).
