Despite my son not being very interested I still think this is a nice rattle/teether

The Bendy Bear Teether Rattle was another gift I received at my baby shower last year. We started playing with it when my son was about six weeks old. - The Bear - The bendy bear is a hard plastic and rubber bear with each little section of his body joined by a flexible cord so he is really bendy, as the name would suggest. His feet, torso and head are all made from hard yellow plastic. The two sides of the face each have a bear face with a different expression, an open eyed smile and closed eyes with the tongue out. He has hard rubber blue ears which are textured. In between the head and torso there is a red plastic collar, his hands are textured green rubber balls and there is a ring of blue textured rubber in between the torso and each foot. Connecting each foot is a red plastic handle. Inside the torso there is a rattle. The bright colours are nice. I think the bear is very simple in design and reminds me of toys my siblings and I had when we were young. It doesn't seem as flash as a lot of toys around these days but it does have a kind of old style charm to it. - Playing with the Bear - This toy is ideal as a first rattle as it is easy to grab hold of and it's light. The rattle works well and it doesn't take a lot of shaking to hear it, perfect for young babies. We found it useful when our son was just learning how to hold onto something. However, he didn't really show much interest in this toy compared to others we had. He would give it a quick rattle and then we would be reaching for the next toy. I would say he did play with it a bit between two and five months but I certainly wouldn't say it was a favourite. He wasn't really into teethers but for a baby that is they would probably like to chew on the rubber ears and hands. These parts are textured which is supposed to be nice for sore gums and is also stimulating for a baby to touch. I like the bendiness of the bear. This was great as my son got a bit rougher as it always looked as if he was determined to rip the head of his toys but with this one the head spins and bends in every direction. - Cleaning and Durability - Bendy Bear is very easy to wipe clean and has also survived our microwave steriliser. Despite being thrown across the wooden floor and dropped from the highchair the bear is still in perfect condition. - Age Range - This toy is suitable from birth. I think this is accurate but most babies probably won't show much interest until they are about two months old. My son was onto bigger and better toys by six months but if he was interested in using it as a teether we might have used it for a bit longer. - Price and Availability - The bear is from Mothercare and it priced at £5. I think this is an ok price but it is certainly at the high end of what I would be prepared to pay for a toy like this. I have seen it on offer for around £3 so it is definitely worth waiting for promotions. - Would I Recommend? - As my son wasn't especially interested in the Bendy Bear I can't really get excited by it but it is quite a cute and well functioning toy so for those reasons I would recommend it.
