      A cheap and cool Bontempi instrument

      **Introduction**

      Writing for Dooyoo has paid off! I redeemed my first 20 Pounds voucher last week and ordered some toys for my daughter. When I was browsing Amazon.co.uk I found this cool looking Melody Sax. I loved the red colour immediately and because it was very cheap as well, decided to order this Bontempi toy. I received the Sax a few days ago and my daughter is crazy about (so is my husband!)

      **How does this toy work?**

      The toy was delivered with batteries included and in a red cardboard box. The sax can be taken out of its packing easily. 5 coloured buttons can be found at the front of the toy. The first 3 buttons (dark blue, yellow, green) can be pressed and when doing this they will each give a different sound.
      The purple button on the toy has the text "demo" next to it. If you press this button you will hear an example of the song you have selected. Selecting one of the eight songs can be done by clicking the small yellow button with the text "select" next to it. Simply said, press the "yellow" select button, then press the purple button to hear what song you've selected and press one of the three top buttons to hear the song play.

      If you select "this old man", one of the eight songs, and click the blue button, you will hear the first tone of this song. Click another one of the three top buttons, and the next tone of the song will play. So it looks like you are playing the entire song yourself, choosing the right tones, but in fact you don't, the music is programmed for you.

      At the exit of the sax (where on a normal sax, the opening can be found) a little rattler is created so when moving around the sax, a rattling sound is made as well. A nice extra I have to say. The music is also coming from the exit part of the sax.

      I couldn't recognize all the songs programmed, but these ones I did know;

      **This old man
      ** Happy birthday to you
      ** Mary has a little lamb
      ** Frere Jacques (I know it is the French title, just don't know the English one)

      The songs are all easy to listen to and familiar as they are old children songs you and I have listened to when we were young.

      **My opinion**
      The toy is cheap, and I didn't expect that much of it. The toy is made of plastic and not too firm, but good enough to play with without breaking immediately. Besides that, the sounds it makes are funny, and the 8 songs programmed in the toy are nice and easy to sing along. I also love the colourful look of the toy and the design of the buttons (they have a star, a square, a triangle and striped printed on them). The part where the rattles can be found is a welcome extra as well, the little parts that make the sax rattle when you shake it, have the form of music notes.
