This set of 5 Bright Starts Activity balls was something I'd wanted for Cameron for a while, so had added to his Amazon wishlist. It was a nice surprise when his auntie got them for him for Christmas as an additional present.
There are 5 plastic balls which are all different, but the same nice bright colours - purple, blue, orange, red and green (I am trying to teach Cameron the colours already!) Two of them have are made up from bits which twist around and make a lovely clicking noise. It will be a long time before Cameron is able to do this himself though. One of them has little balls inside and can be used as a rattle. One has a disc inside with a cat on it which spins around. The final one has what I think is a goldfish inside it - this is my favourite one.
Cameron is already enjoying playing with these balls (he is nearly 7 months old). They are a good early toy for a baby as are the right size for them to be able to pick up. They keep him entertained for as long as he is happy to be sitting down. As he isn't mobile yet I have to retrieve them when they either roll off the sofa or off his bumbo seat tray where he plays with them. I think when he is mobile he will enjoy chasing the balls around on the floor. They haven't got dirty yet, but will easily wipe clean when they do,
Currently this set costs £6 on Amazon which is a reasonable, although you can probably find it for even less so wait for a bargain! They are a good present for a newborn (not that they will play with them for a few months), or a first Christmas present.
5 out of 5 stars from us.
I would never have picked these from the millions of baby toys available as they wouldn't have stood out to me. However, my son was given these as a Christmas present and they are great fun for him. It is a set of 5 small balls (approximately 5cm wide), each with a interesting feature such as rotating/clicking sections or a rattle inside. They are brightly coloured and easily wiped clean and make lots of noise when rolled along a wooden floor. They have different textures and are just the right size to be easy to picked up and held by a baby. They also make a satisfying noise when bashed together which is pleasing for them. My son also loves to throw them and then chase them as they roll away, particularly the one which makes a noise when it rolls. At one year old, he hasn't got the hang of rotating sections but I'm sure this will be the next feature to interest him. The balls are well made and are able to withstand bashing and throwing.
I bought these activity balls from babies r us when my son was 6 months old. He is now 14 months and still plays with these balls every single day, he never tires of them. I paid £5.99 and you get a set of 5 different sensory balls.
Each ball is different, and the balls are a really good size for a baby or toddler to hold. They are so lightweight, but they do have some weight to them, to make them feel strong and sturdy. There are two balls, that you can twist the rings round and they make a noise which my son just always turns his head to whenever I twist it.
I use these balls to distract him if he is going after something he shouldn't and it makes him stop and turn every single time! He comes straight over to see what the noise is, but at 14 months he can't understand to twist it yet himself. I think this is why he is so fascinated when I do it, but I'm sure he will learn soon as he gets older.
There are two balls which have animals in them, and when you shake them they make rattling noises. My son loves shaking these and listens to the noise it makes, and the last ball has a little beads in it that rattle. My son loves playing with these, I always take some out and about with us, he fins them fascinating. He doesn't really look at what's inside the balls, he just seems to like the feel of them and the sounds they make.
They are so easy for my son to grip and hold. They are made of plastic, and the three balls that are clear plastic with beads or animals inside them are very scratched now on the surface, and look a bit old now, but my son still loves them, and I would highly recommend them for young children, and will definitely be purchasing again if I have another baby!
