Advantages: Bright, clicking amuses baby, good price
Disadvantages: Hard when they hit themselves
This rattle was one of my youngest daughters first toys and we bought it when we were expecting her along with a few other beginner toys, the rattle cost about £6 and is meant for babies ages 3 months to 24 months although my daughter is only 20 months and we have long since got rid of this toy as she was no longer interested in it.
The rattle is made of hard colourful plastic and I have seen a number of different colourways, there is a sphere shape in the middle with two spheres coming from this and then a see through plastic ring coming out of the main sphere whivch contains tiny coloured beads inside and has two coloured hoops to move from one side to another on the ring. Our rattle was mainly white, green and orange in colour which I don't think is the nicest combination however when we bought it I wasn;t aware there were other colours available.
Each sphere of the rattle can be turned round and round and will make clicking sounds to reward baby and then the beads flow from side to side inside the ring also making a noise and of course the hoops flow from side to side too making more noises. The spheres are all textured to give each bit a different feel for your baby so this rattle provides different noises, bright colours and teaxtures all in one. On the bottom of one of the sphere there is a push button and this gives baby a squeaking sound although I think my daughter was about 7 months before she had the strength to push this herself although she always liked it when someone else squeaked it for her.
My daughter used to love this rattle, once she was big enough she would use the see through ring to hold it steady and she loved when people twisted and squeaked it for her, we use to use this rattle for her to follow too as to begin with the doctors weren't happy with her tracking but she would follow this rattle happily. My daughter was about 6 months before she realised that parts of the toy would move and about 7 months before she was able to squeak the toy herself, she enjoyed playing with the rattle and chewed happily on it whilst teething too. I don't think this toy would amuse a baby up to 24 months old and I would say my daughter stopped playing with this by the time she was about 11 months just in time to be cleared out for her birthday. This is a simple toy that provides amusement for babies however watch out for them hitting themselves with it as it is made from hard plastic and we did end up with a few tears.
