Advantages: good entertainer with music and lights
Disadvantages: Nothing special
This baby electrical gym was gifted to my son by my cousin.
The brand is Baby Clementoni. It is called 1-2-3 gym as it can be used in three ways as illustrated on the packaging.
As you can see in the image it comes in a well illustrated colourful packaging. The main product - the gym - is made of five parts that require minimal assembly : the two blue legs on either side, the white decorative bit in the middle and the two red bits at the side on top which actually function like a screw to attach the leg to the main piece. After this you attach the two toys at the bottom to the plastic tags provided.
The main piece is a sturdy white material with Disney themed images on it. There is Mickey in the centre flanked by Donald duck, Goofy and Tweety. Donald is shown to be holding a red balloon which can be rotated and makes a rattling noise from the beads inside. All the characters can be moved from side to side and will initially make their respective noise- Tweety tweets, Donald quacks and Goofy barks, followed by a musical tone. The three coloured buttons on the bottom part will also play music when pressed, and light up as well. The sun shaped in thing in the top left corner can be rotated, but has no other function. Mickey's nose is also a button which makes a squeaky noise when pressed. ( This is a mechanical sound, not electrical.) There are two toys provided which can be attached to the plastic hooks on the bottom by means of a yellow tag which has velcro strips at the tips. Both toys are rattles, the red one has a transparent ball at the centre which rotates, has more beads in it than the other one and is much noisier. The other one is a transparent bone shaped rattle. There is a volume control at the back with two noise levels and an off button. It requires four AA batteries for the music and lights. There are also two straps at the back by which you can attach it to the railings of a cot.
The material this toy made of feels very good and I dont think it is likely to break easily. The legs are very firm and sturdy. The gym can be fixed in other positions as well ( facing down and up), so can be used differently as your child grows older.
My son is only old enough to enjoy the rattles himself but he does seem to like it when I play the music for him. As the music plays for a while each time I have been turning to this toy to distract him and keep him entertained when I need to get something done. As he gets older I expect he will be able to enjoy it more and we are both sure to get more use out of it.
Over all I think it is a fairly good toy to keep him entertained, though there is nothing much to be said for its educational value.
Summary: fairly good toy for entertaining
