Dyson Toy Vacuum Cleaner
Advantages: Excellenr replica of the real thing.
Disadvantages: Hose on handle isn't quiite long enough for daughter to ude like the real thing.
We got my 2 year old daughter the toy Dyson for Christmas because whenever I did the hoovering at home I then had to let her use the hose and tool attachment for about 5 minutes after I had finished in order to satisfy her need to use the hoover.
We brought this toy in Argos and it cost £17.49, which was pretty pricey, but since she opened it Christmas day I think it is good value due to the pleasure she has had from it.
The dyson is a version of the green & purple one and is pretty much a very realistic copy of the real thing. The shape is the same with all the recognised wand shape and the tool bits are all the same as the real thing has.
The handle does detach from the main part of the hoover but the hose I have found is just not long enough or stretchy enough for her to put the sucky bit of the wand on the floor and pretend to be doing the edges!! The hoover itself will fall over before the wand gets to the floor. I feel this is a pain and a negative for the toy but it really does not seem to bother my daughter.
The cylinder part at the front, where on the real thing all the dust and so on would collect, there is a cylinder full of coloured beads on the toy version. When the dyson is switched on it creates a small breeze round the cylinder and the beads all fly round it like the real thing does with dust.
There are 2 settings on the hoover. The first makes a fairly loudish noise and it is meant to actually suck up dust particles and collect in a small box at the back. The second makes a soft humming noise and the beads fly round the cylinder. When I have removed the dust box at the bottom of the hoover to see what has been picked up it has always been empty. However to be honest this appeals to me that it does not seem to work too well, as I don't really want my 2 year old dabbling around in dirty boxes of dog hair and dust!!
The hoover itself takes 2 “C” batteries to operate the sounds and bead breeze. We put a new set in on Christmas day and she has used it everyday since and the set is still working OK.
The other thing I would like to point out, is that the brush head bit of it that goes flat on the floor is very flimsy and will often come off if she uses a bit too much effort in her cleaning process. This can be a pain, because although it is easy to fix back on it is annoying to have to keep stopping my hoovering in order to fix hers.
Finally after lots of thought on this I am going to give it 4 out of 5 stars due to the enjoyment and so on it has given my daughter since Christmas. It would have been 5 if the negative points I pointed out earlier had been better. I would recommend this Dyson Toy to you but be aware of the things I have said. They have been annoying for me but did not affect my daughter’s enjoyment or use of the product.
In her sweet words - "It's Hoover Time!!"
