Early Learning Centre Baby Links
Advantages: They are stimulating, colouful, can act as a pram or cot toy
Disadvantages: None really!
Having sorted out a lot of my 2 year old twins toys this week I have come across a lot of their old baby toys which I havn't got round to binning to.
One of these many toys have been there Early Learning Centre Baby Links.
These baby links are quite simply, brightly coloured, plastic links - a bit like a chain - that can be played with seperately or connected together through their 'link' attachment.
The reason I bought these in the first place was I wanted some sort of toy or entertainment to use on the twins pram when they were babies. They were only a few months old but were already becoming a bit bored of just sitting in their buggy, side by side, watching the world go by so I wanted something that could attach to their pram somehow that would hold their interest for a short while. Finding toys that could fit a double pram however proved difficult, especially as I wanted one of the ones like a steering wheel that attaches to both sides of a pram seat, so I had to look for something different.
These links could be seen as something and nothing really, they don't look much when you see them online or in the Early Learning Centre store, but as I was looking for something in particular these jumped out at me.
Being 'links' I quickly realised these could link on and attach to the twins straps on their pram. As they were only a few months old they wouldn't be able to unattach them at such a young age, but they would be able to enjoy the feel, and the look of these links attached to them. It gave them something different to look at and touch. These links are in fact suitable for children aged from birth to 1 year to.
The links are a decent size, each link being a slight bit bigger than a large egg I'd say. Each link is coloured and patterned differently, which adds to the baby appeal, colours all different shades can be quite appealing and stimulating especially for younger babies when they are just getting used to the world and their surroundings. Some had holes/circles on them, others had lines, and others were just plain colours. domr of the edges are wavy and others were smooth - all providing something new for your baby to feel and touch. There was about 7 links in a set and it cost just £4 for a set. Not only are the colours appealing for a baby but the touch and feel for them is something new and interesting too. They have a plasticy, rubbery feel to them which introduces new textures to a baby. What makes these even more interesting to a young baby is the fact that they move so freely, they don't stay in one place and they are not heavy at all so your baby can have great fun moving these colourful rings around, dropping them, picking them back up, listening to the faint clacking sound as the plastic rings knock together. So not only do these just act as a chain, but they sort of act as a rattle thanks to the noise they make to.
Not only can these link to a pram and act as a pram toy but they can be linked onto a cot too which is another thing my boys enjoyed. They would dangle in their cots, and the twins would knock them, pull them, clang them together and they would soon drift off to sleep happily, probably still picturing and hearing these colourful rings.
So if you are after something that is actually quite interesting and stimulating for a young child despite it looking like 'nothing' in store, these are a wonderful toy, especially for the younger babies just beginning to touch, feel, reach out and realise their hands can do these wonderful and magical things.
Summary: Despite them not looking much they are actually quite fun for a young baby!
