Advantages: its a bright, fun toy for children
Disadvantages: the price
The ELC Triangle is a brilliant toy to have in my opinion but at the same time I feel the price for it in Early Learning Centre is ridiculous.
It is £12.50 in Early Learning Centre and it's reccomended for children aged 6 - 18months, which I think is about right.
It's a brightly coloured triangle with activites around it, which include a shiny spinning mirror, spinning shapes, rattling beads, and shapes which can be moved side to side, turned and pushed or pulled. It's a brilliant toy for young children, the colours are so bright they would appeal and capture any young childs eyes. You can also get an activity Hexagon or Square, but the triangle is the one I see on the shelves mostly.
Because of the bright, in your face colours it's a toy which can't be missed on Early Learning Centre's shelves, it doesn't come in a box or anything and doesn't need to be assembled or need batteries. All it has around it is the price tag, which I keep banging on about it as I think it's way too much to pay for a toy. You can buy a cheaper version of this toy in Wilkinsons, but there is a BIG difference in quality. The ELC triangle, is chunky, sturdy and not 'hollow' like the cheaper version, everything on there is a fantastic quality and much better colours. Alot more appealing than the cheaper version.
The triangle is brilliant, especially for the younger babies who are just getting use to the feel of things and different noises and the way things look. The colours as I have said are very bright so easy to catch a babies attention. The beads inside make it sound similar to one of them 'rainmaker' toys. The balls and rotating discs around it when tipped either side provide alot of noise also. The spinning mirror at the top is brightly coloured in blue and yellow, only 1 side of it is an actualy mirror though. The turning shapes have funky patterns over them, they turn through zig zag lines. Theres also swirling beads which can be moved along the plastic curly poles.
The triangle I bought has took many bangs and knocks and still does, and it still looks as good as new despite all this. It is a little heavy though for when your babies are quite young but chunky enough for small hands to grab hold of.
I bought my twins triangle from a secondhand toy shop for just £2.50 and it was in brilliant condition, just needed a quick wipe over, so far it has provided a lot of fun and quiet time for me also as it keeps my boys busy and although I think the toy is brilliant, I would not pay £12.50 for it. Prices of some toys are terrible. This review could seem quite mixed but I do reccomend it, but I'd say shop around see if you can get it online cheaper, or maybe ebay or a charity shop to save yourself some money. I will be keeping mine just in case I have another brood in the future (god help me thinking like that lol)
Summary: a brilliant toy with plenty to do with it
