Living in Cornwall, we are never far away from the beach. Living close to the beach means we visit many different beaches quite often, that also means that we have quite a big collection of various sand toys, buckets, spades, sieves, sand moulds, the list is endless! One bucket set we have is this one from Early Learning Centre.
Of course, being an Early Learning baby bucket set, it isn't available from a lot of places but most Early Learning Centres and Mothercares should stock it or it is available to purchase on their websites. Its full RRP is £4 but I remember purchasing it when it was on sale for £3.
There are four individual pieces included in this set. A bucket, rake, scoop and sand mould. These are the essentials a child might need for a visit to the beach. As this is a baby bucket set it isn't as big as normal buckets and spades, saying that, it isn't too small that it's boring either.
Each piece of this set is made from the high quality, tough material you would expect from an Early Learning Centre product. The bucket has a rather large handle, this makes it easy for younger children with little hands to get a good grip and makes them able to carry the bucket themselves. My favourite thing about this bucket is that it has a V shaped drop in the top of the bucket, this makes it a lot more easier for children to pour the sand/water from the bucket. The sand mould is shaped as a rabbit, it has nice detailing to it so that when wet sand has been placed inside and the mould taken off, it leaves a quite detailed rabbit in the sand.
The most disappointing part of the baby bucket set is the rake. The holes between each fork are rather small so it takes some effort to rake through the sand. We have another rake from ELC and it has a much better quality than the one included in this set.
My daughter is two and a half years old and still enjoys playing with this set at the beach although it is a little smaller than some of her other beach toys. I'd definitely recommend this baby bucket set, it's perfect for toddlers and the price is good too, even at full price.
This is a review of the ELC bucket and sand toys play set. We had been generously given a sand and water play table to enjoy during the summer months from our daughter's Nanna and we set out to buy some accessories to make play time more fun.
What is it?
Generally we fill the table with water rather than sand but this makes it all the more fun with teeming and ladling with the bucket and scoop. In the set you get the bucket, scoop, fork or rake and a mould shaped like a rabbit which is all ideal for playing with sand and water.
Price and availability
The set is on offer at the moment at the ELC for £3.20 but usual price is just £4. I think this is excellent value for money and well worth buying.
We use the set in the garden but will definitely pack it in the car next time we have a day at the beach. The set is one that only gets used outside but it is handy to have ready and we store it inside the play table when it is not in use. The bucket gets used most by far, she loves filling it up with the hose and struggling round the garden with it before tipping it out on the grass. Or tripping over it!
Everything is made of bright coloured plastic and my daughter loves playing with this set. It is high quality and will last us for this one and the next child to play with, then it will probably be passed on for other children to enjoy. I like how the bucket has a great little hole in the handle, making it easier for little fingers to grasp and it has a lip on the side which makes pouring the water a doddle too.
Every child needs a bucket and spade set to play with but this set goes the extra mile for a very reasonable price. We are still looking forward to using this when we visit the seaside too!
My in-laws live down by the beach and so it's great when we go to visit them as we can play on the sand all day and really have fun in the sun. One toy that is an English staple and practically an essential when you go to the beach is the good old bucket and spade and this set from The Early Learning Centre is perfect. Of course you don't have to go to the beach to enjoy it, you can play with it out in the garden in a water play toy or in the sand pit but of course it's much more fun if you can play with it on a beach.
The set firstly contains a nice plastic green bucket with a red handle. The buckets not too big which is nice as its perfect for little ones to pick up and carry about. There is a handle in the handle which makes it even easier for little ones to hold and then there is a pouring spout on one side of the bucket to make that easier also. Water pours out of this really well and evenly and is much better than buckets that have no spout as these have a tendency to spill over the side and make a mess.
The set also comes with a deep blue spade which makes it easy to pick up lots of sand and really get a good scoop to put into your bucket. This is also a really good scoop for water too.
There is also a yellow rake which is made of quite thick plastic. This is my little girls favourite part as she loves to brush the sand as she calls it and make it look all pretty.
The last toy is this set is a red plastic bunny mould that you shovel sand into and then turn it upside down to make a bunny model. I find this mould works well and looks good.
For just £4 this is one great beach toy that I recommend.
