Advantages: So simple yet keep them happy while you cook
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
I bought this set for a round £10 for my son. Ever since he was tiny he was desperate to help me in the kitchen and this set was great, mummys little helper with no sharp knives needed and all his fingers left attatched.
The set consists of vegetables that break into pieces but are attatchable again using velcro and comes with a knife so they can chop veg when you do. I used to keep this set in my kitchen with a saucepan and spoon handy (the simple things are always the best) and be able to prepare meals with him safely occupied. There is also a sandwhich making set which is similar with bread and ham , cheese, tomatoes and lettuce which again stick together with velcro and even comes with a little tub which resembles butter. They can even slice the bread off the loaf. This set retails for £12.50. My sons favourite however were the pizza with a pizza cutter ( £10) and the birthday cake which again are fastened together with velcro.(£10)
My son is now 5 and only recently outgrown these but they are made to last and now are being put to good use by his cousin who is having just as much fun as he did.
In my opinion these sets are brilliant for developing fine motor skills and concentration as well as learning about food. Most importantly a way of you still being able to play with your child when cooking safely. I think one of the best attractions for my son was a little apron and chefs hat i let him wear in the kitchen too. He always seemed to eat better when 'he had helped to prepare the food'.
Summary: Perfect for little chefs
