Dib dab finger painting

El C ready made bright finger paints are some I have used at work. You can buy these from the Early learning centre shops or at their online store.

These pots of paint are recommended for tots aged 3 and over. Personally I would use with a younger child but would supervise them all the time.
They cost £5.00p for a set of 6 colours orange yellow purple pink blue and green. These colours are bright and cheerful Each colour comes in its own individual pot. The pot contains 125mls of paint and is a good size for little hands to get into.

The instructions warn that these paints may stain, they do but only a little some colours worse than others so make sure your tot is wearing old clothes.
I would recommend having a bowl of water and a flannel and towel near at hand ready to wipe and wash painty fingers.

I would recommend that if you are using more than one colour of paint you put the paints into other paint pots for your child to use the colours easily get mixed and all pots become a yucky brown grey colour.
This paint from the early learning centre is a good thick consistency does not drip

For a young child it is a good idea to only use one or two colours at a time, this will help with colour recognition as well as preventing the art work looking all the same dirty colour.
Small children love experimenting and experiencing what they can do feeling the sensation on fingers and on hands is a great tactile experience. Painting with fingers is so much easier than painting with brushes and children will delight in the patterns their fingers and hands leave on the paper.

With Christmas coming up you can make some great finger painted cards for granny and granddad. Experiment its fun.
An idea I have is to cut a Christmas tree shaped card out of green card or paper then let your tot dib dab little finger prints of different colours all over it for the Christmas baubles, add a sticky star to the top of the tree and maybe a little glitter.
Another idea cut a Christmas stocking shape card and let your child finger paint that.
Painting is fun let your children explore painting it need not be messy. Have fun painting Mary

Summary: great paints
