ELC Froggy Rattle
Advantages: Bright, colourful, teether and rattle
Disadvantages: Not a favourite
Although my daughter is now 15 months old, I only recently realised that this Early Learning Centre Froggy Rattle Toy which she has had since she was 6 months old was one that I had forgotten to review. Ever since she has got this toy, it has either been in my handbag or sitting on her changing table and had actually lay forgotten for the past few months until I was doing a little tidy up and realised it should have been put away with her other baby toys which she has grown out of.
WE don't have an Early Learning Centre very close to us, so my daughter only has a limited amount of toys from their range, most of which have either been gifts or I have picked up second hand for her. I wouldn't usually have ever bought teething toys second hand, but when I saw this Froggy Rattle toy at 50p in my local charity shop, and when I noticed that it looked in perfect condition, no scuffs, no teeth marks, no wear and tear, I thought it was a bargain not to be missed. I didn't give it to my daughter until it had been sterilised obviously.
After looking online after purchasing, I noticed that at full price this toy costs £5, which is an acceptable price for a child;s rattle, although having seen it being used in the flesh by my daughter, I'm not quite sure it would have been worth the full price for her usage.
There is no doubt this is a really cute looking frog rattle teether toy. The frog has an inviting smiley face and is meant to be suitable for children from 6 months old. It was actually around this time that I picked this toy up, not knowing the age suggestion at the time. The froggy rattle has a clear round tummy where there are little beads that clash together to produce the rattle sound when you shake this frog. I wouldn't say this is a very loud or obnoxious rattle and is not something that would irritate a parent. The frogs arms are attached to its body, and on each arm are two teething shapes that can move up and down the arm. The two feet also act as textured teethers and are perhaps easier for a child to chew on.
When I first gave this to my daughter, she did seem to show some interest in it, perhaps due to the bright colours of the toy, however, it was never a toy that was a clear favourite. Yes, I kept it in the car for her to play with/ chew on whilst we were out and about, and it was used at times, but again, probably not half as much as the likes of her Sophie the giraffe teether. I also kept it at times on her changing table to keep her amused whilst I changed her nappy. I certainly got more mileage out of this toy this way, and she would have shaken it and played with it more whilst lying down on her table, but the novelty always wore off quickly with this toy.
So, all in all, for the price I paid of 50p I think I got my money's worth in considering the time my daughter played with this toy. At £5 I don't think I would have got good value for money in regards to how much my daughter played with this toy. As with all toys however, some will appeal more, and some less. In this case this wasn't a favourite but certainly not a bad toy.
Summary: A good rattle teether toy but not a favourite
