The Happyland Construction Set consists of 3 vehicles, 3 drivers and a "roadworks" sign. They are all solid, well-made toys that you can give to a baby as well as to an older child. ELC say they are suitable for 18months to 4 years but my 10-month old has loved them for a while and my 6-year old plays with them too. The steam-roller has a roller which moves as you push the vehicle along, and also has beads of some sort inside to it acts as a shaker as well. The digger has a shovel at the front which you can move up and down (and also take off, but it goes back on easily enough). The dumper truck has a loader at the back which you can tip up. The digger and truck both have two orange lights on them. When you press the vehicle down towards the floor, the lights flash and the vehicle makes a sort of road-works noise. We've let the batteries run out on ours - it doesn't seem to reduce enjoyment at all! The little people are quite fun - there is a lady, a man with a white beard and another person, all with hard-hats and tools. They each fit into all the trucks. This has been a very popular set with my children, and when they finally all grow out of it it will still be in good condition by the looks of it.
If your child loves diggers and enjoys playing with Happyland then this is the essential toy for them. The Construction set consists of : Dump Truck Digger Steam Roller Three work figures and a 'men at work' sign Unlike the real road workers you see the figures dont stand there holding a sausage sandwich in one hand and a cup of tea in the other watch the traffic pass by. They do how ever stand still and watch if your child so wishes but they are holding tools and all wearing hard hats. I no you will have to use your imagionation to when playing with the figues because otherwise you will have them waiting around at one of the Happland stores. My first suggestion when getting them out of the packaging is to try get all three workers into the three vehicles... if you mange that you will see that Happyland is nothing like the real world, but it keeps your children happy. They don't nee to know the reallity just yet. Seriously though you and your children will have so much fun playing with these characters and there vehicles reparing the towns raods. They retail at ELC for £12.50, but sure you will manage to get them at a much cheaper price as there are always offers on Happyland at ELC. If not get on Ebay and have a look to see if anyone is selling these as there are always plenty of Happyland items on Ebay. Right i am going for a sausage sandwich and a cup of tea now!!!
