My daughter was bought this playmat for Christmas, and I have to say that it is wonderfully practical as a storage box, but also really ties her whole happyland collection together nicely- giving the buildings a real sense of being a little town.
The mat is soft, easily wipeable, and contains a map of a town with roads, park, and street names, as well as things like parking spaces. You can sit the various happyland buildings around the mat in whichever configuration you fancy, and set up a proper little town. After playing you can simply zip the mat at each corner into a storage box, and tidy the toys away- perfect for teaching children to tidy their toys once finished playing, but also ideal for ensuring that the various pieces don't get lost. Handy carry handles and velcro for the lid ensure that it is easy to transport this around the house and beyond.
The box is a good size, and will hold a moderate sized happyland collection- we can fit the large fire station, the cottage, bakery and vets in ours, as well as the vehicles and people that come with them. But for larger collections additional boxes are needed.
The price is £22 (although ELC do have half price offers on fairly frequently) which is a fair price for this product, as you can quite easily spend this amount on a normal storage box. It is good quality, and appears more than capable of withstanding my daughter sitting on it (when flat!), and walking over it. She is 2, and finds it easy to open the zips, which is great as it means she can access her toys when she wants.
Overall I can't fault this product. It's a good size for carrying around and fits a fair amount of toys in it. The fact that it opens out is a bonus! The only thing I wish ELC offered is a bigger version!
My daughter was bought this last Christmas and she still uses it every day. With a price tag of £22 I initially thought that this was a waste of money but I was completely wrong. This item has been a godsend. It is much cheaper than some toy boxes and also around the same price as most play mats so since this does both jobs it is well worth the money.
My niece was bought a cheaper store brand version of this box that was half the price however by Christmas dinner two of the zips had already come off so it is well worth paying more for the original version.
The box is very pretty and you can also get other designs for both boys and girls. It is extremely strong and durable. My daughter likes to sit inside her box and play. Despite this even a year later it has still kept it's shape and looks like new.
This box has a zip at each corner which when undone leaves you with a play mat that has the happyland roadside on it. This looks great when the village is set up on it. It is also waterproof and wipeable so any accidents are easily cleaned up.
I would totally recommend this box to any Happyland collector since it completes the village but also makes tidy time fun and easy.
We bought this fantastic storage box to keep some of our daughters Happyland collection in mostly for the figures and cars and small accessories. When we bought this we got it while Early Learning Centre had a sale on so we only paid £12 for it, but to be honest we would have paid the full price for it! It is bright and colourful with lots of detail, my daughter loves to set up her happyland village on this as it has roads and streets on it! It is easy to keep clean as well as it can be wiped with a damp cloth. I like it because it isn't fiddly and my four year old can unzip it into the playmat and also tidy it away herself! This is worth the money and a good size for storing your happylanders in! I would recommend this as it doubles up as a storage box and playmat!
This Happyland Storage box is Fantastic. We had had ours for quite a few years now and it is still going strong, and we have since purchased others the ELC have made.
It features zips on each of the four corners, which are easy to zip even for a small child. My 2 year old has no problems doing it. Has bright colourful Happyland style Scene around the sides of the box making it easy to see which box you want. On the inside where the playmat side is, there are roads, a market square, trees, grass and Parking areas to make your own little town.
The roads even go off the sides, so you can place 2 or more of these together (depending on the size of your HappyLand Collection) and they link together to make a bigger playmat. The lid even has a picture of a duck pond and grassy area, so can also be used as a play area.
The box also has 2 handles for easy carrying. Very sturdy box and you can stack at least 3 or four of these full with toys on top of each other.
The box its self is big enough for at least 4 - 6 houses or buildings of the Post Office Size, plus numerous other items.
Although the price is a bit steep, using the 20% voucher, or waiting till they have it on special make it a bargin.
If you dont have the town playsets, they now make a Fairy one and a Space one for the other Happyland Sets.
We bought this to keep our children's Happy Land toy sets together and so that we can store them neatly when not in use. It has zips on each corner which are unzipped so that you are able to use it as a play mat. When it is opened out flat there is a different picture on each side. There is also a picture on the lid, so that can be used for playing too.
I didn't think that it would last very long, as it doesn't seem to be particularly sturdy. However, it has withstood my two children sitting in it, standing on the lid, and generally being rough. It also holds a surprising amount of toys; with a bit of organisation I can fit the Happy Land Farm, Fairy Toadstool Cottage and Happy Land police station in there.
This mat can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, which is great as it can get quite grubby. The children have been able to unzip it since we got it, and my three and a half year old can zip it up with assistance,
We bought this as part of a huge bundle of Happyland toys for my little boy last Christmas who was 2 then. One year on and it still takes pride of place in his bedroom and is filled to the brim with happyland parephenalia! I bought this from the Early Learning Centre with a 20% voucher which made it good value. I love the fact that it easily unzips into a play mat with roads for the cars and areas to place the houses, market stalls, Dr's surgery etc. My little one will spend ages positioing everything in an appropriate position on the mat and then driving his many Happyland cars around the road. We have the construction set and he loves setting up little road blocks so the cars have to do a detour! The lid can also be used (we put animals on it as it has a duck pond!)
My one critisicm is that it could do with being a bit bigger but that could be to do with the amount of Happyland stuff we own. He fits the farm house, bakery and surgery in there but not much help.
It was quite recently that my husband and I began buying toys from the Happyland range at the Early Learning Centre for our son who is 21 months old. We admittedly buy far too many toys as there is always something that takes our eye when out shopping or that ties in with our son's latest interests.
At present he adores play sets and anything that encourages role play and imaginative play is of course a great benefit. With the sheer volume of toys that he already owns however, storage is a must and this is something that we now look out for before making a purchase.
What originally attracted us to the Happyland range of toys at the Early Learning Centre was the storage box which opens up into a fabulous play mat. It was an item that we quickly snapped up alongside our first Happyland play set purchase.
The storage box and play mat is presented flat packed in two parts. The inner part opens up into a squared off oval shape. It has on it a lovely detailed image of a street edged in flowered borders. There are two crossings where Happyland characters can cross the road safely, an excellent thing to teach young children. It has a paved area and a pond at the centre and there are two signs reading Market Street and Church Street. It is thick and padded with a leather feel to the outside, making it durable and easily wiped clean should the need arise.
The lid of this storage box doubles up as a further play tray for children. The inside features a field with a lake and pond, edged by a red picket fence, giving the impression of a farmer's field.
This play mat is very easily converted into a storage box by simply zipping up the sides and popping on the lid. There are holes which act as convenient carry handles at each side and the lid has Velcro fastening straps.
The outside of this box is also very attractively detailed, depicting streets, houses and other buildings. It therefore looks rather attractive on display or up on a shelf.
The overall size of this product is 45.5cm (W) x 36.5cm (L) x 29.5cm (H). It is certainly adequate to house a good number of Happyland toys and accessories without taking up too much space. It may not be sufficient enough to house the complete collection, though I cannot guarantee that as my son's collection is still growing.
The recommended age for this product, as with all Happyland products, is 18 months to 4 years. This storage box and play mat is priced at £20. This may seem a little pricey for a box, however the detail and practicality of the product does make it good value for money.
This is a must have product for this particular range of toys for those who need storage or simply wish to keep the collection together.
My daughters Great Grandma got this at Christmas for her to go with the Happy land village set that her Grandma got her - to be honest I was dubious as to how useful it would be to start with but she was determined to get it - now I see Granny knows best! It is great, my daughter can get to her toys herself without me having to be involved which is great for her independence. The whole village packs nicely into it, I may have to get another one if she decides she needs to extend her collection to include the farm etc.
It has proved to be a godsend with the hot weather we have been having I have been able to just grab the box take it in the garden and unzip it and shes set up for a good hours playing! I would recommend that anyone who is planning to collect the happyland range get this playmat/storage box - it is great!
Happy Land is a sweet little world created by the Early Learning Centre, which helps children, build their imagination, using all the different characters Happy Land has to offer. The Happy Land series also includes buildings and vehicles as well as people.
For Christmas this year I brought my little boy Happy Land ready to play village which cost £60 and included; a cottage, a doctors surgery, a farmers market, a café, phone box,, some vehicles, lots of people and some animals.
I decided to buy the Happy Land Storage Box and Play mat to store all the Happy Land in. the Box / Play mat cost £20 from the Early Learning Centre.
The mat has pictures of greenery, trees, roads and pavements. The lid of the box also forms part of the play mat and has a picture of a pond on it. I find now my children have the mat (took a long time to come in to stock) they always play Happy Land on it and not all over the living room or up the stairs.
When it comes to pack away time the mat fold in to a storage box very easily. You lift the corners of the box up and then zip it up to form the box. This is very easy my three year old can do this with out any problem. Once all the Happy Land is in the box the lid them fits on. The box two handles which are strong and makes it easy to lift the box
Once the mat is folded in to a box, the out side has picture of Happy Land around the side, which makes it stand out from normal storage boxes.
The only bad thing I find about this box is that even I want to buy more of the Happy Land Series I would not be able to store it in the box as it only just fits all the items in the ready to play set.
This mat/ box keeps my house tidy during and after play and my children all want to make the box so pack away time is easy.
Do not forget to registar with the Early Learning Centre and a month before you child's birthday they will sent you a 20% off voucher.
My parents bought this to go with the rest of my daughters happy land collection at Christmas. At first when I saw the price I thought it was very expensive indeed for a play mat and I don't think I would pay so much for it, but to my surprise its just fantastic and well worth the money paid.
It is extremely sturdy so much so my daughter has taken to using it as a stool whilst her toys are safely tucked away!
The lid Velcros onto the folded up box and is easily removed, once turned upside down forms its own little play mat in its self which my daughter likes to keep all her pieces on!
Each corner has a zip on it and once all unzipped forms the most lovely play mat. There is space for all your happy land buildings, road for the cars and field for the animals. When its time to pack away all the toys go in the middle of the mat and you can zip it up around them and the lid just pops back on top.
Its really easy to carry thanks to the 2 very strong handles, it also looks really pretty in my daughters bedroom unlike boring plastic storage boxes!
This ELC Happyland storage box is fantastic, my daughter has gradually been collecting most of the Happyland village and it was a real problem to find somewhere to store it all together, this really solves that problem and my daughter can unzip the box herself and then play with the roads and set her shops up exactly where she wants them. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is collecting Happyland, you will be amazed at how many shops, cars and people you can fit in this and I always have a little helper at the end of the day very willing to zip the box back up again and help Mummy tidy it away, it also looks so neat and tidy so no more clutter for me all over the lounge floor. I would say overall a very happy Mummy and daughter and we have actually just gone and bought another one of these as our collection was getting rather big!
I bought this for christmas for my daughter whos 2 (well santa bought her it).
And she hasnt stopped playing with it! It comes from Early Learning Centre which can also be found in mothercare stores.
The storage box all folds down and opens up to form a play mat with roads and things you can also get loads of differnt playsets for it things like: school, church, farm, bakery, police staion and a realy good fun fair theres also some smaller play sets which just has vehicles and people in. all of the play sets have fun noises aswell which is realy good.
The best thing about this is most toys when you buy sets all the peices get lost around the bedroom and you never have the full set again! but this you put it all int he box so everything stays together the sets can be pretty expensive but there worth it try looking on ebay aswell!
This playmat/storage box is part of the Happyland playset range from the Early Learning Centre, Early Learning Centre departments within Mothercare, online via either store and second hand from Ebay. The playset series includes a school house, post office, farm, cottage, church and airport, police station and fire station, all of which have electronic sound effects. There are also smaller add ons for the playsets, including world people, a village family set and emergency vehicles.
This is a review of the storage box that can be purchased separately from the playsets.
The storage box, which has a separate lid, unzips at each corner to unfold out as a playmat on which the playsets can be sited during make-believe play. As a storage box it measures approximately 35cm wide, 25cm high and 45cm deep (without addition of lid) and folded out as a playmat it is rectangular in shape and measures 90cm by 100cm. One side of the mat features a street scene including a post office, church, café and sweet shop set around a circular road, the other side features a more complex road system including T junctions and the printed scenery consists of flower borders rather than buildings.
This is a good addition to any Happyland collection as not only does it provide adequate storage for several playset buildings and accompanying accessories (we have three sets comfortably stored away) but it also provides a comfortable play zone as the mat is fairly thick (I think it has a cardboard centre with strong plastic casing on either side) and protects little knees from hard flooring. I also find it contains the play, i.e. my children play with the sets on the mat rather than around the entire room, and it is easier to pack away as there is less opportunity to lose any bits.
This storage box/playmat has two side handles for easy carrying and a lid which not only fits securely over the box but also provides a further play area showing a pond scene. The box/mat costs £20 but is currently available for £16 due to a 20% off ELC toys promotion both at ELC and mothercare.
This handy soft play mat is handy for placing all your HappyLand buildings and conveniently folds away into a handy storage box.
