Lights and sound drum.
My little girl loves music and musical instruments and one of her favourites is the drum. We decided to buy her this drum after witnessing her "playing the drum" on top of a Christmas tin of Quality Street chocolates. It seems a proper drum was needed in order to harness her natural drumming talent. This drum from The Early Learning Centre is so much more than a drum as it includes lights and sounds as well. It was a bit pricey at £14 I thought but has been a well loved toy so in my opinion well worth the investment.
The drum is round with two large ends but goes in at the middle, I've completely drawn a blank as to the name of this shape, someone please put me out of my misery but you can see from the picture the shape of the drum. What is great about this toy is that it does so many different things and is not just a drum. As this has working lights and sounds you will need to use 2 AAA batteries with it but we still have the ones that were supplied with the sum and it is still going strong. I find most toys that come with batteries last about a year before they need changing so so far, so good.
On the middle portion of the drum you will find four different coloured buttons. One of the buttons is the speaker so that actually doesn't do anything. When you press the blue buttons it activates the drum function so the drum works just like it should as a drum. When you drum on the top of the toy it makes a really nice drumming noise and sounds really good in my opinion. This function also has lights that work when you bang the drum. Both sides of the drum and made of a white plastic and so you can see lights coming through. The lights are all different colours, red, green, blue and yellow and are fun to see so my little girl will keep drumming to see the lights go on.
When you press the red button and drum on the drum it will make some sharp whistle noises and again the lights will flash. The purple button activates the music function and when you drum on the drum different tunes will play and again lights will flash.
You can also roll this drum along the floor and when my little girl was younger she mostly did this as it was easier for her to just push it rather than attempt to push the buttons. Nowadays she mostly prefers to drum on the top of the drum and push the buttons so this is a toy that has lasted for quite a few months and still brings enjoyment.
