This is a lovely, well designed toy. This is a chunky toy fire engine with no small parts so suitable from 6 months or whenever baby gets interested in it. It has various buttons to press to generate sounds or sirens or to make the lights flash and can be pushed along the floor. This is one of the better made toys and has withstood lots of play from my 3 children and is still in great condition. There are not many toys which have been suitable and interesting enough to be played with from 6 months to 4 years old so it is well worth the money. None of the flaps have broken off with use. The ladder is extendable and the little ones enjoy putting the fireman in the little basket at the end of the ladder to carry out pretend rescues. It is a must for any child interested in fire engine and while it doesn't have the branding of the Fireman Sam toys, it is much better quality.
For Jayden's birthday he received quite a lot of toys, one of his Godfathers bought him the Early Learning Centre Lights and Sounds Fire Engine. He loved the fire engine from the start, and me and my Husband were also pleased with this as well as it is something that he will get a lot of use out of as he grows, it is not a toy that he will grow out of too quickly without getting a lot of use out of it.
The ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine comes in a green box, this has the name of the product on it along with the ELC logo, there is also a small amount of product information on the back of the packaging. The front of the box is pretty much cut out so that you can see and touch the fire engine inside, this allows you to test the button before buying, the fire engine is secured inside the box with wire around the wheels, these can simply be removed using a pair of scissors. The packaging is nothing fancy but it tells you what you need to know and allows you to view the product so you know exactly what you are buying.
The Fire Engine
The ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine is basically a large bright red chunky plastic fire engine, it has a little flap down section on each side of the fire engine, on one side there are fire extinguishers moulded into the plastic and on the other side are buttons for your child to press which make various sounds such a siren, telephone ringing etc, there is also a small hose real which when spun makes the sound of water rubbing.
There are a further 2 buttons at the front of the fire engine which again make sounds such a an engine starting and a horn sounding.
The fire engine has various flashing lights to make it more realistic, these are activated when various buttons are pressed and then the fire engine is pushed along the floor, the fire engine also makes siren sounds.
On top of the fire engine is a crane and lift which and be extended and also turns. The ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine comes with 2 fire men which sit in the front of the fire engine, these are also made from tough and durable rubbery plastic and are very detailed, these can be removed from the fire engine and even placed in the lift, when your child puts the fire men back into the fire engine cab you hear the fire men's voices saying different phrases.
Playing with the ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine is not only fun for your child but it will also help with their development, moving the fire engine figures around will help with your child's hand eye co-ordination as will pressing the various buttons, pressing the buttons will also help them to learn cause and effect and see how their actions make things happen.
Pushing the fire engine around and chasing it across the floor will help encourage your child to walk and help with movement, it is also ideal to introduce your child into imaginative play, also as they grow this will play a larger role when playing and the ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine is ideal for this, they will be able to continue to play with this toy as they grow.
Price and Availability
The Lights and Sounds Fire Engine is available from the Early Learning Centre and costs £20.00, personally I think this is a fair price for this toy as it is well made, durable and will be a toy that is long lasting and not something that will be outgrown quickly.
Jayden has had his ELC Lights and Sounds Fire Engine since April now and he has had a lot of use out of it, he loves the flashing lights and sounds and spends ages pushing it around the house and taking the fire men in and out of the fire engine.
The fire engine is strong and durable and withstands the tough time this sort of toy will have with a young child, Jayden's fire engine has no damage at all despite frequent use and is still as good as new, there are no small parts that can break off of this toy and even the fire men figures are strong and durable.
I like the fact that this toy does different things and has a lot of various sounds that are realistic to the fire engine and for me the main thing is that he will not quickly out grow it and he can still use it for imaginative play when he is older. The toy is fairly priced and in my opinion well worth the money. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone, it is a fun toy that will also help with your child's development.
We got this fire engine for our baby at a jack n Jill fair second hand. We bought it for when he was about 1 year old but spotted it at 7 months old and hasn't stopped playing with it since!
The fire engine comes with a crane that raises ( manually), two fireman that detach from the engine and can be played with separetely. It has panel at the side that pull down to reveal buttons which make fire related noises; different sirens, phone ringing and hose spraying. When pushed the siren plays with the lights going also.
My Little boy is nine months old and happily pushes the buttons, pushes the fire engine around and chews on the firemen ( lol). He plays with it easily 5 or 6 times each day. Being second hand it came in excellent condition, although pre owned it still works beautifully with no signs of damage despite my little boys 'rough play' it has proved to be very durable. I'm extremely impressed!
I believe my little boy will continue to play with this toy until he is 3 or 4! It seems great for imaginative play, although obviuosly I have no evidence of his yet. (Apart from my partner pretending to rescue toys from towers in it lol)
I have yet to find a negative with this toy. Has been played with for 2 months and no new battery's required yet. It is a fantastic toy, brilliant quality would happily have bought new and payed full price for it!
I highly recommend buying this toy!
