Advantages: Entertaining, brightly coloured, fun for kids and adults alike

Disadvantages: Come apart a little too easily.

I have a set similar to this, but the pieces are triangular and link together. I bought these as an impulse buy for my son. They were out on display, but had no packaging (usually the product is packaged) For this reason, the shop assistant reduced it by £2.00 on her own accord.

My son's favourite piece seems to be a blue triangle, with a yellow section covering a set of cymbals, which he seems to regularly use to disturb a quiet library or bus. There is also an orange triangle, with a clear section filled with beads, to imitate a maracas, a green section with bells, and a red section with plasticy bits which make a clacking sound.

The items fit together, but seem to come apart very easily. This doesn't seem to concern my son though,as it still makes a noise, so he's still happy.

They usually retail at £12.50 in the ELC or mothercare, and seem to be a hit with everyone. For the price, they get a lot of use and enjoyment. My son enjoys them, and I often find myself joining in the games.

A worthwhile buy, as long as you're not hoping for peace and quiet.

Summary: Buy a set for your budding musician now.
