Advantages: Great for a wide age range

Disadvantages: It's a shame the price has gone up

I bought this for my children last Christmas. At the time it was actually on sale at £5, the current price is £15.

This is a fabulous toy. It comes with six plastic 'envelopes', six letters to go inside, six stamps and 2 dice. The letters and stamps have different animal faces on and different colours to match with the envelopes. It's supposed to be played as a game, where the players take it in turns to roll the dice, and then put the corresponding letter and stamp with the envelope. We have never used it in this way though. My daughter loves just putting the letters in and clipping the stamps on and posting! The parts are quite large so very easy for a young child to use. We got this when my youngest was 18m, and putting the letters, envelopes and stamps together is great for developing their fine motor skills. For an older child, it's great for colour recognition and matching. We have mostly used it for postman role play though!

We also have the wooden ELC postbox, but I much prefer this one as there is so much more you can do with it. When you've finished playing, you can put all the parts back in the box and lock the door so it's put away neatly. It's very sturdy and well made so hopefully it will last. My kids are 4 and 2 now, so I might try actually playing the game with them, if I can locate the dice that is!
