ELC Roaming Rose Cottage
Advantages: Price, colours, size of parts.
Disadvantages: Some pieces come away too easily, can't move all the parts around.
The Roaming Rose Caravan has quickly become one of my cousins favourite toys, she recieved this for her second birthday at the start of September, and although she has lots of toys her caravan always seems to be out.
Price: Roaming Rose Caravan is available at Early Learning Centre and costs £15, I think it's reasonably priced for what you get although it is only a simple set. However, you can recieve the Caravan free when buying the HappyLand Windmill for £35, this is a much more complex set and worth the money, especially considering the free gift, all the different HappyLand toys go together well and are suitable from 18 months to 4 years.
What's included: 2 characters (both girls), 1 horse, 1 caravan, 1 set of horse straps and 1 set of steps. (All internal pieces are 'built in'.
Externally the caravan is very striking, with bold yet simple colourings which really draw the eye. The caravan is an old fashioned trailer type with a lime green roof and pink underneath, along with pink windows with pretty flower boxes underneath on one side. At the back of the caravan there are a set of folding steps and small double doors which open but also half of the roof folds down to allow easy access whilst playing inside. There is also a seating area for the two characters to sit just behind the horse which pulls the caravan. The wheels on the caravan means it is easily moveable.
As I mentioned before inside the caravan all the pieces are built in, although this means that different pieces can't be moved around it does mean that small pieces can be swallowed or lost, which is always a good thing! Inside there is a kitchen, including an oven, pots, containers and a cupboard, along with an oddly placed bunkbed.
Everything which can detach from this set is a good size and won't be easily lost, however I have noticed that the steps which flip up and down often come off, they are easy to put back on but I feel they could be a little better attached. Also the horse in it's reins come away from the gypsy easily especially when wheeling the caravan around.
Overall: This is a good toy and fairly priced for what you get, it is good for children playing on their own but isn't really suitable for more than two children to play with at anyone time. The bright, eye catching design makes it easily recognisable and sure to capture any childs imagination, as you can see from the picture it is mainly pink but I'm sure boys wouldn't mind playing with it too! A little bit flimsy in places but overall a good buy.
Summary: 4/5 a good value buy, some little extras would make it a lot better.
