ELC Seaside Pour and Play
Advantages: Nice bright colours, easy to put together and dismantle
Disadvantages: You'll both get wet!
This is a review of the Early Learning Centre ELC Seaside Pour and Play which was bought for my daughter's first birthday from a good friend.
A good gift
We were very pleased to receive this as a gift as my daughter loves bath time and playing in the bath. She has ducks which squirt, ducks that light up, floating boats and a swimming frog so far in her collection!
This toy is quite versatile and comes in a few parts but is easy to assemble. The first item is a plastic rack with sucker pads on the back to attach to the wall or side of the bath. Then there are four hooking cups in different shapes and four toys with sit in the cups.
Toy one is a squirty seahorse which holds a fair bit of water and the red holder has holes in its bottom to pour water through. Toy two is a yellow water wheel which sits in the blue holder and can move around if water is poured correctly upon it. Toy three is a squirty star which sits in a cup which decants water if you twist a handle on it, finally toy four is a squirty whale. So I'm counting nine parts in total.
The toy is suitable for ages 12 months to two years, which I would agree with. Before one year my daughter would have been a bit lost with what to do but she quickly caught on to the holder which is a ladle with a colander in the bottom.
My thoughts and dismantling
I think the toy provides extra fun and play time in the bath and we have enjoyed playing with it so far. It comes off the wall easily so I don't have to sit and play with it when I have my bath! It is very interactive and meant to be both on the wall and in the bath for all the parts to work properly so be prepared to scrabble around for them in the water and bubbles!
I looked up the price of the ELC Seaside bath toy on their website and it retails at £8. I think this is a fair price for the quality of this toy.
Overall this has proven to be a good toy and I think we'll continue to use it for the next year at least. We might have to rethink the squirty toys once my daughter figures out how they actually work but for now we are fine with it. I think this would make a good present for someone wanting to buy for a one year old, it can be difficult to find something suitable without going outside of the age band which some parents don't like.
Summary: Fun bathtime play
