ELC Sew & Lace Card
Advantages: Engages childs concentration, encourages eye to hand developement
Disadvantages: A bit difficult for its age suitability and long threads could be dangerous.
These are brightly coloured card with pictures of rabbits, snails, lions and other animals and toys. the outline of the picture is punctured with holes. There are long strands of multi coloured lace, and the object for the child is to thread the lace around the picture in a sewing action.
I bought these for my daughter when she was 2 year old, as thats the age suitability stated. However I think perhaps it was a bit difficult for a 2 year old and mummy ended up sitting one after another...... however by the age of 3 these were wonderfully entertaining for my daughter who would concentrate for long periods of time to complete a picture. Apart from teaching simple sewing skills they encourage hand to eye co-ordination and concentration skills. And a very worthwwhile feeling of 'i made that' for the child. The card is thick and durable, after over a year its still in excellent condition. The thread is thick and like a shoe lace, so theres no issue with it fraying. However they are quite long wich could be a safety issue , and adult supervision should be given at all times.
Summary: A good parent and child together quiet activity
