“ Brand: ELC / Type: Bathtime Fun „
This rather exciting looking bath toy is from The Early Learning Centre and costs £15. I think that it is quite an expensive toy considering it is rather basic.
This is a caterpillar who has three shapes cut out of it's segments and has three little plastic shapes that fit through them.
The body of the caterpillar is bright yellow and made from plastic. He has pink 'ears' and underneath these two little cups which have holes in. Under the cups are little waterwheels that turn round when water goes through them. At the very bottom is a hole so that the shapes can be got back out again once they've put put through their holes.
The caterpillar sticks onto the side of the bath with a big sucker. This does usually hold it in place although every so often it loses it's stick and falls off.
The shapes are different colours and have a hole in so water can trickle out of them. They are made from a firm plastic though so they can't be used as a toy you would squeeze to squirt water out of it.
My grandchildren prefer to just try to put water in the cups and watch the waterwheels turn round instead of using it as a shape sorter type toy. The only problem is that it doesn't come with anything to fill the cups up with. I think this makes the toy lacking a little, it would be a good idea if they included a little jug or something so that water could be tipped into it.
The toy I think is good quality. we have had this for two years and no mould has grown on it at all and it's still in excellent condition.
What I dislike about it though is that it does sell itself as being a shape sorter toy yet it only has three shapes and they are quite awkward to put in due to the very upright angle of this when it's on the side of the bath.
For £15 I think it's a little expensive really and so will only be giving it 4 stars.
